Apple has just patented technology that will allow frisky cops to make sure that any nasty old concerned citizens won't capture them on video as they start using batons to lay into prone, handcuffed civilians.
All they need do is determine that an area must "protected from externalities," and Apple will disable any video recording capabilities in the area.
I have purchased the last Apple product I ever will.
Public shaming of the disabled. Warning: While I fault the responsible parties for this missive, I also fault the source. Contrary to their claims, they cite no evidence that Tea Party members are responsible for this.

I suppose it hasn't occurred to you that a thief can set up a real-time camera lookout to direct offensive operations.
So jerk that knee.

Waste, your capacity to misunderstand keeps improving upon itself daily. I'm so glad you tipped me off to this fact, as well as your near-consummate lack of ethics. Now I don't have to waste time engaging a waste-of-space-and-air.

Patrick, thanks for that link. The really infuriating thing about it is that it's a kiss-up to Hollywood. Note the bit about "movie theaters and concerts". And oh by the way, yeah, it gives governments a handy means of preventing you from recording anything they don't want you to record. It also gives the same capability to any sufficiently clever hacker.
Fortunately, since it isn't a jamming technology, it can't stop a one-way transmit device. I'm sure GoPro is already looking at it as a business opportunity.

Ouch Patrick!
About 20+ years ago some friends wanted to go to the hot springs in Montana where clothing is frowned upon. It's right by the University, so we were told it was populated by 18+ year old women tripping on mushrooms and ecstacy. The reality was maybe 3 hot young women, about 200 college guys, and a few hundred drunk, obese, biker \ homeless people, all just marinating in their own stink.
Thinking about it right now, I think Amy's reaction would be absolutely priceless!

Always be vigilant against the potential for government abuse of new technology. I don't think the government should ever be allowed to block our capacity to record police encounters. In fact, they should be required to record them themselves.
Eric, ugh. That sounds disgusting. Filth soup. Bleah.

The facts stand, Patrick, no matter how you stamp tiny feet and squeal at your monitor.
Video is a tool. It is motive-neutral. It is a trivial thing to stream live video, and this has been demonstrated in ads for Android devices. It's a FINE way to set up an ambush.
You may still video those evil police with any OTHER device, and no one is telling you you must buy Apple products, let alone me. Apparently I interfere with what passes for awareness at your house. Don't get spittle on your... monitor.
You're REALLY GOOD at being offended, as if an Apple cell phone was your major, high quality, sole deterrent to police misconduct. Meanwhile, I'm pretty sure devices to detect and disrupt cell traffic already exist.

'Waste, whatever. You bore me. If I had your address, I'd send you a postcard of the Milky Way, with an arrow pointing to earth, saying "Wish you were HERE!"
If your life is made better by doggedly following my every word straining find something to criticize, have at it. Glad to be of service and all that. It's a pretty ho-hum existence, if you ask me, but simple people have simple needs. Just don't be too disappointed if I don't give much response. You ceased to be amusing. Now, you're just boring.

From a Newsmax Insider Report e-mail:
2. Obama's Climate Plan Could Lead to 'Aviary Holocaust'
American wind turbines kill 1.4 million birds and bats each year, a new peer-reviewed study discloses — while producing just 3 percent of U.S. electricity.
The numbers indicate that President Obama's global warming plan will kill hundreds of millions of birds and bats — with dire consequences — "while doing little if anything to reduce global temperatures," energy and environment writer James Taylor observes in an article for Forbes.com.
Even if no new wind turbines are built, turbine blades will kill 14 million birds and bats during the next decade, according to the study published in the Wildlife Society Bulletin.
Yet the Obama administration has never fined or prosecuted a wind farm for killing eagles and other protected bird species, although each death is a federal crime and the administration has prosecuted oil companies when birds drown in their waste pits and power companies when birds are electrocuted by their power lines, Fox News reported in May.
Obama has championed a $1 billion-a-year tax break to the industry that nearly doubled the amount of wind power in his first term. And his recently announced campaign to reduce global warming may seek to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by as much as 80 percent. Since climate change alarmists oppose nuclear, coal, and natural gas power, reducing emissions would require a 25-fold increase in the production of electricity from wind power.
That would lead to the deaths of 350 million birds and bats in the United States each decade, Taylor surmises.
"How would bird and bat populations be able to sustain themselves under such an onslaught?" Taylor writes. "The answer is, most bird and bat populations likely couldn't sustain themselves, and President Obama's climate plan would initiate an open-ended aviary holocaust the likes of which we have never before seen."
Since birds and bats are vital in controlling insect populations, the deaths of so many birds and bats would lead to an increase in insect-borne diseases and a decline in crop production, requiring farmers to use more and stronger pesticides.
Yet "sacrificing hundreds of millions of American birds and bats would do nothing to impact global temperatures," Taylor adds, pointing out that China alone emits more carbon dioxide than the entire Western Hemisphere.

"It seems surprising to me that no technology exists to keep the birds and the bats away from windmills."
This explains so much: no basic grounding in the sciences.
It's not like no one has tried. Just as it has been possible to jam cell phones from the beginning, and interfere with them.
Here's a little something to get your blood boiling on Sunday morning. It's a six minute video, but worth it.
