Amy, do you take any flak for calling yourself an "Advice Goddess"?

Grammar Girl, whom I happen to think is wonderful, is being criticized by the feminists for calling herself "Grammar Girl," instead of "Grammar Woman."

I told her that in her place, I'd call myself "Grammar Wench" just to annoy them.

I thought of some other choice names I would use. It would be worth it to piss them off. But Grammar Girl's Facebook page is open to all ages, so I didn't want to list any more names I would call myself if I thought it would rankle feminists. Like "Grammar Slut," or "Grammar Ho."

I also wondered if these feminists also got on Legal Lad's case, or Get it done Guy's, or Modern Manners Guy's.

Now, I want to create an alter ego, make it female and offer advice on some topic, with the most degrading name possible.

But Grammar Girl replied with dignity and class...something I'd certainly never do!

Finally, over the last couple of years I've taken some flak for calling myself Grammar Girl instead of Grammar Woman. People have complained that Grammar Girl sounds like it is belittling me or that I'm too old to be considered a girl. What I have to say to those people is that I like the alliteration of Grammar Girl, and a true feminist would let me call myself anything I want. My mother raised me to believe I could be anything I wanted to be, and I want to be Grammar Girl.
