Why Must Everyone Hang Their Personal Life Out For Everyone?
And why must we assume celebrities who aren't getting caught without panties on at clubs and who aren't spilling all are hiding something?
This was on HuffPo video:
Actress Raven Symone recently came out on Twitter, but Queen Latifah refuses to talk about her sexuality on her new talk show. Why do black women in Hollywood face incredible hurdles when it comes to admitting one's sexual preference?
You don't see a whole lot about Queen Latifah's personal life on her Wikipedia page. Perhaps she hasn't "come out" about her sexuality for the same reason she hasn't "come out" about the rest of her life: She's private.
PR guy Howard Bragman says black celebs don't come out because African American churches are homophobic:

Why does anyone care what Queen Latifah is? This is the first time in my life I'd heard anyone, even obliquely, suggest Queen Latifah might be a lesbian.
Could you make it through the night if I told you it was none of your business?
I personally would love to see all of Hollywood, gay, straight, whatever, answer any and all questions about their sexuality with "None of your business."

And that is kind of the whole problem. A celebrity telling the media that something is none of their business just makes them try harder to find out.
Obviously, many of us don't care who the celebrities hook up with. Most of us don't even have a clue unless we happen to overhear somebody else talking about them. However, I do know that a lot more people feel like the personal lives of celebrities are their business. The thinking is, "If they don't want us to know about them, they shouldn't have become famous!"
Many years ago, I had a friend who worked for a Gay and Lesbian newspaper in San Diego. Paula Poundstone was coming to town to do a show. My friend was trying to arrange for an interview with her. She told Poundstone's manager that her publication was not trying to out her. The manager's response was that there was nothing to out. She didn't get the interview.

While even celebrities are entitled to privacy, I have a hard time feeling sympathy for them. I don't condone the behavior of the paparazzi,(which if done by a private person would have them convicted of stalking!) but really, complaining about your lack of privacy as a celebrity is like being a doctor and complaining about all these sick people in your office! It's a job hazard.
Considering the amount of cash these people make, I would think the income would salve the wound, especially when you can "sneak away to the Philippines" whenever you need to have some down time. There are also private resorts that cater exclusively to celebrities, if they feel the need for total seclusion.
Again, that's not to say that the paparazzi have any right to invade the privacy of celebrities, but I do think celebrities should expect some *reasonable* loss of privacy, especially when you consider camera whores like Britney and Paris.
I also question celebrities that do complain about the lack of privacy, while creating drama guaranteed to plaster their faces on every single magazine published. When you look at stars like Queen L, Billy Joel, Will Smith, or Gordon Ramsay, you see that they are very private people, at least when you compare them to the likes of Lilo or RiRi.
It is possible for most celebrities to maintain privacy, I just don't think they choose to, as all this "invasion of privacy" keeps them current and keeps the bucks rolling in.
That being said, I really don't care if you bang a boy, girl, or purple people eater, as long as you don't flaunt it for my 14 year old to see.
Thanks Miley! Wonderful example! Small wonder my child only gets limited access to cable.

It's astounding how many of the people I know care nothing about their privacy, and the institutional violations of their privacy.
Maybe the higher the rate of the privacy violations, the more special they feel. Incomprehensible. I think it started with Jerry Springer...

I don't really care about the paparazzi and celebrities in general. But I can consider that the children (and non-famous spouses/SO) should not be subject to the same treatment.
Or in other words Bennifer are both fair game. Publishing pictures of the kids should be generally restricted.
Actually I think of Harrison Ford as the example.

Fayd:
It worked for Merv Griffin. When he was asked that question, he pointedly stated that his sex life was no one's business but his own. Did people speculate? Sure did. But no one could say they knew for certain (unless they were either propositioned or slept with him).
After he was dead, however, was another matter.

Arguably, considering the discrimination they have faced from childhood to adulthood, mainly because they are or were mostly invisible, and since the nth person coming out makes it just that much easier for the nth+1 person to come out, then it's important for gays that feel comfortable coming out to come out.
I don't think it's particularly any of our business. I liked Jodie Foster just as much before and after she came out.
But if they do come out, good on them.
What can I say, in a similar vein I always get a kick at figuring out who is Jewish in various shows. Doesn't make me any more or less Jewish, or associated with the show, but I don't know, I just think it's cool. And very cool that Kirk, Spock and both Uhuras are Jewish and several of my favorite wizards at Hogwarts.

The only times a given person's sexual orientation is of interest to me is if a) I'm trying to have sex with them, or b) if they're trying to have sex with me.
I'm pretty sure Queen Latifah is not interested in me, and I'm not interested in her.

"Kirk, Spock and both Uhuras are Jewish..." Vulcan Jews? Oy gevalt! Do they go to the Ka'atski'lls on vacation?

Awesome. Thank you.
