Life Is Beautiful
What, you were expecting a sunset? Greasy bacon, kale waiting to be cooked in bacon grease, puppy sleeping below while waiting for me to take her back to my desk.
And no, I do not bother to wear matching socks. (I learned this from my very stylish little 8-year-old neighbor, Lilly, who will wear one striped sock and one polka-dotted one, even if she's wearing a dress.) I just care about whether the kind of sock matches, because it feels weird if you're wearing two different thicknesses. These were a gift from my friend, E., in Paris, to keep my feet warm, from a Paris men's store where her boyfriend shops.
Puppy in motion:
I have to get Gregg to take some video of her on the move. She's incredibly graceful. Like a little drum majorette. And best of all, the little furry drum majorette boots came with the dog. (They're called her "furnishings." Even Gregg knows this word now. It's so cute to hear him use it.)

Does she ever get the zooms? Where she crouches really close to the ground and then runs around at top speed? They always look so funny when they do that, like their butts are about to scrape the floor.

That is so true about the socks. Like wearing one nylon sock and one athletic sock. Or one crew-length sock and one ankle sock. It makes your legs feel asymmetrical.

I love that name -- "the zooms"!
And actually, she'll just tear around without crouching. It is hilarious. She's a fast little bugger, too!
She also plays pretend "catch the prey" with nothing in particular. She likes it best in an environment with rolling hills made by bedclothes.

My youngest daughter is 19, and I don't think I've seen her wear a pair of matched socks in 10 years. There's a store at Downtown Disney (Anaheim) called Little Mis-Matched - they sell all mismatched socks. She keeps saying she's going to go in there and buy some socks, thankfully she hasn't. It's pretty pricey! I still get a laugh when I see her in a pretty little dress, Doc Martens and a long pair of socks that don't match.
