Kind of disappointed that the mini skirt wasn't an option.

Out here in the NoVa, Muslim females, if they wear any covering at all, mostly go with #5. Since moving here years ago, I've only seen full veils or the full burqa two or three times, maybe.
Story my middle daughter told me: In European history class, the discussion concerned the cultural implications of the Adam and Eve story in Genesis. One Muslim girl said, "Don't look at me, I'm Muslim!"
The Muslim girl sitting next to her whacked her on the head and said, "Dumbass! It's the same story!"

The full quote: "In a sense, women's hair in the west functions as it's own sort of veil, one which most of us are unconsciously donning."
Could this woman do any more pretzel twists to find western women oppressed?
I see plenty of women who do fuck all with their appearance. As I wrote in Psychology Today, and as various feminists were irate about,

Oh, and unless you're me, don't put in so many quotes in a single comment or it will go to spam. I happen have the key to the spam folder, where I'll go in a minute to rescue this comment.

What's the difference between 4 and 5?

If by "mini skirt" you mean "show's 1/4 inch of the ankle", then that's #5. If you mean the western version, we'll there's a fatwah on that...

My guess would be that #5 shows hair, while #4 doesn't.

4 & 5 look pretty good. And I'm not muslim. Of course, it does not help the results that all the 6 images do not use the same face and 4 & 5 are deliberately using good faces at good angles while the rest use faces or angles that are not so good. Ideally, to get the right idea, all 6 images should use the same face shot at the same angle, but I'm not surprised that most people chose 4&5 in this test since those are the best looking in this set of images.

It is good to see that there's at least a strong movement in Turkey and Lebanon to move to the 20th century. Can the 21st be far behind?
I'm surprised to see that Turkey is so far behind Lebanon. In Turkey, the hijab is actually forbidden to be worn by female elected officials. (Yes, they have them in Turkey.)

But in the rest of the public square the ban is failing.
That should scare people because Turkey has F-16's.

Most of the Arab women here in Israel wear 4 or 5. There is a cadre of middle-aged women are bare-headed and in Western dress, while the younger ones are usually in number 4, with matching shapeless dressing-gown dress thingy. Guess that brief 20th-century fling with Westernization is coming to a close. It may also be that the younger "rebels" simply blend in with the Israeli population, so I can't identify them as Arab.
There have been several bare-headed female Arab competitors on the Israeli versions of the "The Voice" and other talent/reality shows.
I once saw a full burka eye-slit woman (2) in a local children's hospital. What was most interesting was the repulsed/freaked looks she drew from the other Arabs.

I think #1 is the most useful if you're trying to keep the woman fresh until you get her back from the woman store.
But #6 just throws me into a drooling fit of uncontrollable molestery.

I believe the preferred term is "molestitude."
Crid [CridComment at Gmail] at January 12, 2014 3:55 PM
"Molestimonious conduct."
