Not Sure Why Anyone Would Want To Vacation Or Work In A Muslim Country
Dubai, supposedly a "moderate" Muslim country, is on the verge of jailing another rape victim.
From Austrian Times:
An Austrian tourist who claimed she was raped by a policeman's son in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates has been told that she is facing jail herself - for having sex outside of marriage. The 24-year-old woman reported the rape to local police expecting that they would take action against the accused, and instead found herself facing charges.
And even more amazing she claims that she was told by one of the policeman that she complained to that she could escape charges if she were prepared to marry the man that she alleged had raped her in a car during an attack on December 2nd, which is a public holiday in Dubai.
She had been in the region with friends on holiday and accepted an offer by the man to drive her home. But once they had walked into an underground car park underneath a five-star hotel in Yemen he had raped her, she claims.
The man then tried to drive the woman away from the hotel but she managed to jump out of the car screaming for help - where other guests helped her and the police were called.
As well as facing charges of sex outside marriage it is also alleged that she had been drinking. Both actions are illegal in United Arab Emirate State.
More info here:
Under Islamic law, rape can only be proven if the rapist confesses or if there are four male witnesses. Women who allege rape without the benefit of the act having been witnessed by four men who subsequently develop a conscience are actually confessing to having sex. If they or the accused happens to be married, then it is considered to be adultery.

And yet here we're are accused of warring on women if we don't want to subsidize Sandra Fluke's sex life or if we admire Cate Blanchette's dress.
Me thinks we are doing create damage trying to solve problems that really aren't problems, all the while snoozing in the face of true tragedy.

Unbelievable. Yet there are Muslim apologists who claim that Islam is very respectful of women. Suuuuure.
One detail from the article confuses me. Was this in Dubai or Yemen?
"An Austrian tourist who claimed she was raped by a policeman's son in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates has been told that she is facing jail herself - for having sex outside of marriage."
"But once they had walked into an underground car park underneath a five-star hotel in Yemen he had raped her, she claims."

Dubai. The policeman's son was a Yemeni. GulfNews, a UAE paper, has more on this story:

This is what a real rape culture looks like. Anyone complaining of rape culture here should be sent there.

You should never ever be alone with an Arab man, especially if you have been drinking, which last I checked was illegal in Arab countires.
In the US, the man would be immediately charged and forced to "prove" a negative" that he didnt rape the woman, in Dubai, the opposite assumption is made.
The woman had admitted to the drinking, and also consensual sex, now she has changed her story and called it rape. Both the drinking, and the consensual sex are crimes in Dubai.
You cant just wander around the world like an idiot abroad, and expect the laws, and the culture to cater to your personal sense of justice.

Drinking is not illegal in Dubai. Where it can be done is more restrictive than here in the States but it is perfectly legal to sit in a bar and have some drinks. I have done it on more than a few occasions.

She was charged with illegal drinking, so for now, I am going to go with the assumption, that you should know both the rape laws, and the drinking laws better before you start knocking them back in Dubai.
"Dubai’s licensing laws require venues serving alcohol be attached to hotels or a private clubs. It is illegal to drink in the street or in a public space."

I always wanted to have a screwdriver (Florida fruit, not Cali) in the bar of this Dubai hotel... With a really, really busty Jewess.
Maybe sit by the window with her and look at the shore of Iran across the Gulf.

Crid, I'm going there in a week and a half, I'll tell you if the hype and reality match.

If Jeff doesn't soon link a photo of a busty Jewess in a plunging neckline with a smirk on her face from an Appletini, he's bullshitting.
Either that or he's been distracted by the latest aerodynamic experiments in Formula 1.

Dear Amy, I hope you read my comment. Actually, the info you gave here is not correct. Adultery is the one which is proved by confession or by 4 witnesses, and it's named adultery whether the person is married or not. But for rape, it's proven by the medical tests and examination, and if rape is proved, the rapist will be probably jailed or punished. The raped person will have an indemnification. I know cases also that happened in Dubai, and the rapist was jailed. If you need any resources for my info, I'll be happy to provide them to you. Regards.

I read extensively in Islam and what you're engaging in here is Taquiyya -- lying to protect the faith. Nice try, but next time try it on the naive Westerners who want to believe that Islam is just chocolate ice cream to Judaism's vanilla and Christianity's strawberry. Islam is a totalitarian, women-abusing and homosexual slaughtering system bent on the slaughter or conversion of the "infidel" and the rebuilding of the rest of the world into "The New Caliphate."
There's a reference right in the post from thereligionofpeace.com
And it's Quran 24:4 and 24:13 -- the passages about this (a "revelation" straight from the big guy in the sky -- Allah -- to the psychopathic, narcissistic, self-absorbed "prophet" Mohammed. More on his psychopathy below.) Without the four witnesses, rape is considered "zinah" -- illegal sex between unmarried people.
For anyone who wants to understand Islam, there's a terrific book I'm reading now, Howard Bloom's The Mohammed Code: Why a Desert Prophet Wants You Dead. It points out what a looting, mass-murdering, rape-encouraging, vengeful, violent psychopath this "prophet" Mohammed was.
I'm an atheist but I can get behind the Jesus stuff -- turn the other cheek, feed the poor, etc.
Oh, and PS The nicey-nicey stuff in the Quran, the earlier part of it, is abrogated by all the violent, evil-commanding stuff in the end.
Hulda, again, nice try. Go play your wares on the clueless. You might have more success.

Not sure what this means, but you're always welcome to post links. One per comment so the comment won't go to spam. If you want to post two, wait about 30 seconds (also for spam folder reasons) and post a new comment with the next. And so on and so on. Post as many as you want! Just wait between them and only post one in each comment.
