It's...What?! Sprinkling?! Noah, Gas Up The Ark!
A very So Cal tweet from Mrs. Abbot Kinney, making fun of the panty-wadding that goes on here when it rains:
@MrsAbbotKinney
OMG!! OMG!! HELP!! It's, it's RAINING!! Nooooooo. Save yourselves! Save the children! Ahhhhhhhh! Gasp!
My reply:
@amyalkon
I used to be from Michigan, where there's real weather. Now I'm from Pathetic.

Kind of like how the school systems in the NoVa react whenever snowflakes are observed. My kids have had lots of days off this year.

Old RPM Daddy, Sorry, I don't mean to offend. But; I used to live in the DC area, and given how too many folks there cannot drive when there is just a light snowfall I really don't blame the schools for shutting down.
The only thing more annoying is now that I'm in the NYC area the mayor here has to always do these press conferences whenever there is weather other than sunny as if it is Armageddon coming. And the recently elected socialist is the worst. That guy just loves the sound of his own voice too much.
My own town now has these robocalls which call every resident in our town to alert us to snow - as if somehow or other I don't listen to weather reports myself. What a waste of tax dollars to put in place and run such a system.
Good grief, we've become a nation of idiots!

No offense taken. I grew up in Ohio, and concur exactly with your opinion of DMV drivers!

Also from DC area, nope they can't drive. They do panic when there's even a threat of snow. But after a few snows they get a little better.
One side thing, between the snow days and ridiculous number of holidays, and closures gov't workers have been averaging 1 day off per week.

Schools in Austin closed a couple of times earlier this year because of the THREAT of snow and sleet. (One time it did ice over, and there were a couple hundred wrecks in the morning. The other time... nothing.)

Meteorologists and Government in Connecticut have been Chicken Littles during snowstorms since the 1980s (when I moved there).

Another former Michigander here (or is it Michiganian now? I can never keep it straight).
I'm in Colorado now, and people think I'm in some frozen wasteland. At least here the snow goes away after a couple days. In Michigan it started in September and stayed until June. :D

Northerners get to make fun of us Southerners for our difficulties with snow. Californians, not so much.

The last year I lived in California, 1989, in the Central Coast area, someone reported seeing a snowflake and they shut down U.S. 101 overnight.
