Why Should Socks Match?
I prefer them to be mismatched and in colors other than various shades of boring.
Mine from yesterday, photographed for a friend: My friend wanted to know whether bright, multi-colored stripes on her floor would be too much with the big, bright, multi-colored dots already on her walls.
My answer: "No, they wouldn't."
My follow-up answer, accompanied by the photo: "Then again, maybe I'm the wrong person to ask."

Okay, well, there's mismatched and then there's mismatched. Deliberate mismatching one groovy, colorful sock with another is fine. In fact, I would encourage it. Mismatching a brown sock with a black one just means you were folding socks in bad light.
I did that with shoes once. I had an old pair of wing tips and a newer pair. I managed one morning to go to work with one of each!

Bush the Elder is apparently into socks, too, though he seems to match them or have someone do that for him.

Of course, I got mine where he probably didn't -- Ross Dress For Less. I think they were $4.99 for a huge packet of assorted wild socks. Recently, if you're aspiring!

That left sock either looks like a grinning madman or an unhappy alien, depending on the direction. Or maybe it's that Slender Man I've been hearing about so much lately.

It's nice that those tootsies should have a little color in their life. I hear they have never seen the sun...

Is that where they re-appear after they dis-appear from my dryer without a trace?

I truly do not understand where socks go. I have a drawerful of unmatching socks. I decided the $4.99 would be worth the time savings I would have in searching for socks even of the same kind!

Socks should match the color of your shoes and pants. That way there is no distracting flash of color when you walk in the work place. :->
But my real beef is with men's dress socks. They come in pairs of three with three different patterns. Why??? I just want plain black socks so they all match. Or if they must have a pattern, 3 of the same pattern. Over the years I end up with dozens of patterns and matching them is a pain in the *#%.
