"It would help if we knew what "attractive, accomplished, bold" woman you're talking about, Crid."
Silly Patrick. We know who you are obsessed with. Looks like you will be the last person cured of PDS. Actually, you'll probably go to your grave with PDS. Sad.

From where I sit, the obsession is on your end. Which is why I post about her, because it never fails to get a rise out of you and Crid.
You try to claim that you're "old school" and it's just your chivalrous attitude toward women that makes you stand up for her. No, it's your obsession with Sarah Palin, so sorry.
I could lambaste just about any woman, and you wouldn't bat an eye. But say one thing about the drunken snowbilly, and you're up in arms. Quite frankly, in light of the story I shared, I think you should just disabuse yourself of the notion that Sarah Palin is a lady of any kind. She tried to pull the "Do you know who I am?" card, to no avail. Her son Track behaved like he was raised by apes. And her "man's man" of a husband didn't fare too well in this brawl, either. He retreated from the fray, nursing a bloody nose.
Seriously, you wish to be defending the Alaskan version of "Here Comes Honey Boo-Boo"?
Show some class, Crid and Dave B. If you wish to stand up for a lady, make sure it's an actual lady, not this drunken clod.
Say it with me: "Sarah Palin is a lifelong failure who has never succeeded in a single thing she's tried."
Repeat the mantra as needed. You'll feel better.

Admittedly, the "Do you know who I am" card is uncouth, but there was no direct description of Sarah Palin actually being in the brawl. The person she directed that question toward should have just said, "Yeah, you're that obnoxious lady who's on the TV!" That's how an airport security worker responded to Sam Donaldson pulling that crap a number of years ago.
C'mon, spill, Patrick, why are you really so agitated about her? Does she oppose gay marriage or something?

Silly Patrick. He believes everything he reads on the internet. Because, wait for it, it's true!
You have issues with Mrs. Palin, Crid and evidently me. I'm not sure about Crid, but you have never met Dave B or Mrs. Palin. Suck it up pissant. Sadly, you'll go to the grave with PDS. Not sadly for me.
If you want to think I'm so "agitated" about her, go right ahead.
I simply find it amusing that Dave B. and Crid feel obligated to defend her.
I posted a story about her, adding my own comments about her, and Dave B. responded with personal attacks on me. This, I thought, was interesting. It seems that Dave B., whose posts I usually enjoy, has a bit of a soft spot for the former Miss Alaska runner-up.
You've been here long enough to know that if there's any way to get me to up my game, showing me what pisses you off and attacking me personally is just the way to do it, mpetrie.
So, let's have some fun yanking Dave B's chain.
Then, even better, Crid decided to get involved. Now, I don't know if you're aware of this or not, but both Crid and I have been active participants on this blog since the inception. When Amy started this blog, she invited me to come and play on it. I presume that Crid got the same invitation.
Anyhow, Crid's and my mutual antagonism established itself very early, almost the very day this blog got started. And we're both very happy with this arrangement, thanks so much.
You know, if Dave B. had wanted me to stop picking on Sarah Palin, he might have made a more dispassionate response commenting on the points I made, and I probably would have lost interest. But (as his response to me in this thread would show) he prefers to respond to anything I say about Sarah Palin with attacks on me personally. "Why, you brute! How dare you attack such a beautiful and important woman!" That sort of thing.
Tally-ho! And let the hunt begin!
But as for Sarah Palin herself, she's really no threat to anyone. Her own choices have made a future in politics all but impossible. And I suspect she likes it that way. So, she's a moderately amusing punching bag and a way to antagonize those who try to antagonize me.
(If you promise not to tell Crid and Dave B., I'll let you in on a little secret: on some of the forums I participate on, I've actually defended Sarah Palin. I wouldn't do that here, of course. It's too much fun taunting Crid and Dave B.)
Finally, I am curious about why people are so determined to rally behind her. What's her charm? For instance, the movie "Undefeated" (which I haven't seen). What kind of revisionist nonsense are the makers of this cult-worship crap trying to perpetrate? Hello? She was runner-up of the Miss Alaska pageant and of course, she lost her vice-presidential bid. Those sound like defeats to me.
There is one good thing that might have come from a McCain victory, I think. Palin would have established a precedent that you don't have to be an ivy-leaguer to have a decent shot at becoming President of the United States. I think that would be a good thing if this unspoken prerequisite were done away with. Don't you?
I hope I answered your question, mpetrie.

If only.

Y'know that thing where timid little guys are terrified of attractive, accomplished, bold women?
That.
Crid [CridComment at Gmail] at September 13, 2014 11:57 AM
It would help if we knew what "attractive, accomplished, bold" woman you're talking about, Crid.
Patrick at September 13, 2014 1:17 PM
In this instance, the subject of your obsessions... The one for whom none here care more than you.
Crid [CridComment at Gmail] at September 13, 2014 2:09 PM
I'm sure Amy will be very flattered that you called her "attractive, accomplished and bold."
Patrick at September 13, 2014 2:43 PM
Okay, so it's not a snowbilly punchup but hows about a peek at a corrupt government agency screwing the citizenry?
Corporations, si. Citizens, no. Just ... no.

What's the difference between your local non-profit community organization and the non-profit NFL?
The head of the NFL got paid $44 million, for starters.

No, really.
