I can't resist. Not when it comes to baiting the delightfully self-righteous Crid.
Sarah Palin has now declared war against innocent restaranteurs. Truth, she declares, "is an endangered species at 1400 Pennsylvania Avenue," the location of the Peacock Alley restaurant. I wonder why she decided she doesn't trust those people. They even serve tea, for Chrissakes!
(Sorry, guys. It's not much, but it's best recent Sarah Palin fuck-up I could find. And gosh darn it, Crid's just being so irritating lately; he deserves a good baiting.)

Hi, Patrick!
Did you see the article explaining how the Affordable Care Act would reset and cancel your medical arrangements every few years, by law?
Do you still think that your health care plan "isn't going anywhere"?
No wonder you show up to talk about Sarah Palin. Obama has let you down so profoundly... even lied to you..,
Radwaste at October 1, 2014 5:26 AM
Non-story. Sorry, Patrick but it's tough to be a public speaker. Sometimes you misspeak. I can't remember the address of The White House. I had to look it up.

C'mon, guys. The Palin hate has got to stop. She is so yesterday that she poses no credible political threat to anyone. There is a 0.1% chance she will even seek elective office again.
The only reason she goes on public speaking tours is there is a small core of people that still like her and she needs to get speaking fees and sell books to make a living. What is wrong about that ? Bill Clinton does the same thing

Shes a Conservative, and they need to be censored for us to be free, at least according to liberals

It is a bait and switch kinda thing. Attack Palin who is NOT running for office, in order to divert attention from the Philistine currently occupying the Oval Office.
Palin seems to generate a lot of gay male hated. Don't know why. Jealousy maybe?

There simply HAS to be something to be upset about today.
Ah. Here we go.
Tempest, meet teapot.

I know, Amy. I was hoping for something good about Palin, and it came up snake eyes. Certainly nothing compared to the brawl the Palin's found themselves involved in.
Isab, I hadn't noticed any particular gay male hatred directed toward Palin. With some exceptions, gays tend to hate conservatives in general, especially the loudly Christian. (They haven't exactly been supportive of gay issues.)
It's been my observation that liberal women seem to have the most hatred for Palin. Although subpar gay columnist Dan Savage seems to have it in for her. He writes an advice column, but I seem to recall a column in which he went off on Sarah Palin's "abstinence only" views and Bristol's out-of-wedlock pregnancy. It seemed a little odd to me that an advice columnist would give up the space to right a partisan political piece.

Gog, looks like the Boston Herald cartoonist committed a major fubar. But I have to say, I don't get the whole watermelon and fried chicken stereotype. I like watermelon and fried chicken and I'm white. Most everyone I know likes watermelon and fried chicken.

Crid's cat pictures are more interesting.
And Patrick aren't liberal women and gay men essentially the same demographic?
They all seem to hate Dick Cheney too and I love Dick Cheney. Wyoming never had a better Congress critter
Isab at October 1, 2014 6:30 PM
I agree with Patrick.
My grandmother was from Florida, I've got some family in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Louisiana.
I've seen some seriously fucked up racist shit around those parts.
But I dont get the fried chicken and watermelon 'stereotype' of black people. Everyone in the south eats fried chicken and watermelon, even the vegetarians.
lujlp at October 1, 2014 8:20 PM
Brousing the articles at www.Veteranstoday.com can be illuminating... One says "Nobody Died at Sandy Hook". The author references Social Security death lists, and NONE of the supposed Sandy Hook appear on those lists.
Hmmm...

Crid, I agree it was a tempest-teapot. But then, you had to dig for it, too - wasn't national news.
Watermelon and fried chicken are different from greens and tupelo honey. I am white and love them all. Yum.
But, maybe the subtleties of the difference between those are lost on those not from 'round here.
I'll give a concrete example. One beach I'm aware of used to be called "Chicken Bone Beach". It was at the end of the road - no facilities other than concrete picnic tables. It's where the blacks went, because they weren't welcome at any of the other -- whites only -- beaches.
There is an awareness that many blacks have, rightfully, when certain words come up. It's not overly-sensitive for blacks to ask the question, and point out the significance, when they see or hear those particular words.

Words have no Innate fixed meaning independent from thought.
Stereotypes, negative connotations, and euphemisms are a moving target.
So in my lifetime the term Colored or Negro (Spanish for Black) and it's slangy derivation, has morphed into Black (English word) then African American, and then back to Person of Color.
A rose by any other name......
People get way too wrapped up in language, because it is much easier to condemn (and less risky) than bad behavior.
The PC police like it that way. They use these little language tricks to identify their kind, and exclude those not tuned in to their group think.

"And Patrick aren't liberal women and gay men essentially the same demographic? "
Sure, it's trolling, but it's also an excellent example of how the Right throws away votes - like the Log Cabin Republicans, for instance - that are desperately needed to stem the bleeding to the Tea Party and the Libertarians.
Incidentally, Isab, the dislike of Dick Cheney isn't about his support for his home state - that's expected (almost demanded, really).
Cheney falls into the same category as Pistole of the TSA and Senator Feinstein, steering public policy and the resulting contracts to the benefit of their companies, their friends, and their families (war materiel and support, security, high speed trains, to name a few).
Doesn't anyone wonder how a government employee or politician can make a relatively decent salary yet come out of public service a gazillionaire?
But I give up. Pick a basketball team or political party and worship it. That's been working great for us.

If anyone was demonizing Democrats, like Harry Reid I might buy your arguments, but they have all become multi Millionaires while actually in Congress. I see that as a bigger problem than going to work for a private company after leaving office, like Cheney did.
