Suppression Of Free Speech In Academia Is Out Of Control
Nat Hentoff, not exactly a Tea Party member, has a piece at Cato Institute about the latest in hostility to the exercise of free speech on American college campuses. There's a disturbing trend:
MU's student body vice president later tried to justify the students' self-imposed restrictions on the press during an interview on MSNBC. She suggested that the First Amendment "creates a hostile and unsafe learning environment."

As ye have sown, so shall ye reap.
Remember, in the eyes of the regressives, if you disagree with them, you're not just wrong, but guilty of BadThoughts, as well as malicious and evil.

Oh yeah. The left kept clamoring for "free speech" when they had little power. Now that they have power, they no longer need free speech.

The Free Speech Movement started at UC Berkeley.
And today at UCB?

Amazing how much Academics and students at elite, over-priced universities sound like Donald Trump: First Amendment rights? Who needs 'em.

I find it more hostile to be told to keep my mouth shut all the time and only having a small list of topics deemed appropriate to speak of.

Agree with you there, BunnyGirl!

There have always been radical brats among University students. The difference today is that many administrations refuse to hold them accountable for their actions, and often abet them. It's often the case that they're using the students as proxies for their own political agendas.
I worry that this situation will come to a head with an act of violence, either by or against these student activists. The BLM inspired groups are eager to intimidate people. Eventually someone is going to push back.

Oh, no! An unsafe learning space. They'd better get used to it; the real world is no better.
As for Trump, I don't know where you get that he's against the first amendment, unless you're counting his throwing out obnoxious hecklers from his speeches (#BlackLiceMatters, Jorge Ramos, etc.)

Speaking of PC campus bullying...

This is precisely what David Horowitz told me once. "We wanted our rights so we could use them to take away everyone else's rights."
