Now, Even Professional Comedians Can't Take A Joke: Amy Schumer's Rotten, Nasty, Graceless Response
A teen film critic, Jackson Murphy, 17, took a photo with Amy Schumer, and then tweeted the shot -- trying to be funny -- with this remark:
@LCJReviews
Spent the night with @amyschumer. Certainly not the first guy to write that.
Gracelessly, Amy Schumer -- who has developed a comedic image as a slut -- slapped him down for it:
@amyschumer
@LCJReviews @jondaly I get it. Cause I'm a whore? Glad I took a photo with you. Hi to your dad.
He later tweeted an apology to her.
And again, about the Amy Schumer oeuvre:
Schumer is no shrinking violent when it comes to the topic of sex: both her standup act and her critically acclaimed Comedy Central show Inside Amy Schumer draw heavily from her sexual exploits and misadventures between the sheets.
Get this, from the link above:
Luckily for the fresh-faced film reviewer, Schumer was gracious and readily accepted his apology writing: 'that's really okay honey. I just remember thinking you and your dad were sweet and it was a bummer to read that.'
Really? You're an internationally known comedian, and you can't take a fucking C+ attempt at a sex joke from a teenager?
This, sadly, is not only what Amy Schumer is about, but also what feminism is too often about: pouncing on anything a male says or does as an opportunity to show him how wrong he is. About everything.
This once again suggests that even some of the most powerful women feel like victims deep down -- and. I'd venture, perhaps because they're always so busy identifying as victims. Even when they're celebrities, making millions of dollars, with over three million Twitter followers.
Poor, shat-on Amy Schumer. (Let's all hold hands for a moment of silence.)
On a positive note, this does give me yet another reason to stack up with the rest under the title "Why I Am Not A Feminist."

Evidently she took it personally, instead of treating like an extension of her comedy routine. She uses the "I'm a slut" context as part of her routine. Consistently. Jeez! Guess she can't take her own joke - I have a hard time thinking he was trying to be exceptionally derogatory. Used "exceptionally" because it seems he has a history of stirring up shit,
Oh and I Love Amy Shumer as a comedienne.

INSIDE Amy Schumer's BACK DOOR Tour.
If Conan or Fallon or Kimmel or someone who could advance her career had said she slept around, she would have lapped it up and swallowed it, grinning.
jerry at January 19, 2016 11:47 PM
My first read on it was that she was trying to be funny and it didn't work. Another read and I think she might not like other people trying to be funny around her or she felt like he was trying to upstage her. I think my first read is correct.
The Former Banker at January 19, 2016 11:59 PM
For whatever it is worth; his tweet was funny. Her response shows how fragile and insecure she really is.
So, all she proved is that Amy Schumer is an ass; not far removed from her father's cousin, Chuckie Schumer, also an ass who is fragile and insecure.
charles at January 20, 2016 3:49 AM
Jerry, you're right. This is like that famous elevator ride by Skepchick Rebecca Watson, on which some fan boy asked her to have coffee at 3 a.m. or something, and she was aghast. My suspicion is that if the person in the elevator been someone properly famous -- like Richard Dawkins -- her panties would have flown right off onto the elevator ceiling. Just a suspicion on my part.
Amy Alkon at January 20, 2016 6:07 AM
The Former Banker, I wondered whether she was trying to be funny, but her post-apology tweet seemed to dispel that notion.
Amy Alkon at January 20, 2016 6:08 AM
She's made herself famous talking about sleeping around, making movies about sleeping around, joking about sleeping around......but yeah, poor little shrinking violet can't take what she dishes out? I've never liked her, particularly. I turned TrainWreck off after about 30 mins, it was just stupid and tacky, none of the humor of Bridesmaids.
He was funny. I'm sorry he apologized. What he SHOULD have tweeted back was a nice long list of every sleeping-around reference she's ever made. But that would take 1000s of tweets.
momof4 at January 20, 2016 6:12 AM
I chuckled at his comment and wrongly assumed she had been giving away.
Bob in Texas at January 20, 2016 6:18 AM
I didn't see the humor in Murphy's tweet; I though it was classless. Maybe there's some backstory that I'm not aware of. The thing is, if you're a celebrity, you get crap like this from social-media trolls every day. If they see that they can get under your skin, you'll never hear the end of it.
Some of the conservative Web sites and blogs are promoting Schumer as being a "values" person inside Hollywood. I've listened to some of Schumer's stuff and I'm not seeing it. When Sara Silverman isn't ranting and raving about politics (which is rare these days), she does the same shtick but funnier.
Cousin Dave at January 20, 2016 6:28 AM

Phrasing, Jerry, phrasing.
Wait...are we still doing that?

She missed an opportunity for some witty banter. Maybe improv is not her thing.
NicoleK at January 20, 2016 7:17 AM
@Cousin Dave: The context is that her "schtick" is all about being a slut and sleeping around. Probably she doesn't really, but that's what her comedy routine is all about.
So I thought the guy's tweet was pretty funny, implying that she had slept around...with him. Her response was humorless and crass.
His biggest mistake was apologizing and deleting his tweet. He should have stuck by his guns, maybe even doubled down. When people pull out the "victim" card, the best thing is to laugh at them, and double-down. Apologizing just gives them the courage to keep attacking you.
a_random_guy at January 20, 2016 7:34 AM
I didn't see the humor in Murphy's tweet; I though it was classless.
Again, Amy Schumer's schtick, as a_random_guy points out, is all about being a slut.
I wish he had doubled down, but hey, at 17, when you're attacked by a celebrity with three-plus million Twitter followers, maybe it's a little too much.
Amy Alkon at January 20, 2016 9:10 AM
The kid didn't say anything about money. She should apologize.

Problems with tweets, It's tough to tell if someone is serious, joking or offended. I dislike her, but am not seeing this as a thing.
Joe J at January 20, 2016 10:21 AM
Well, perhaps as much as the "N word" is off limits for white folks, despite it playing a large part in the routine of some comedians, calling into question the promiscuity of a woman, even when it's part of her routine, is possibly non consensual sexual behaviour.
Rodger Young at January 20, 2016 11:14 AM
I'm sick of this culture that apparently everyone who offends anyone must immediately kowtow and apologize ... I wish for once someone would have the stones to say 'I'm not going to apologize' to these liberal fascists. Reminds me of that poor shirt guy ... these feminists are bullies and we need to stand up to them.
I can't stand Amy Schumer, she's everything that's wrong with America today rolled into one, from her feminist hypocrisy to her gun control views, to ruining the Pirelli calendar series with this BS politically-correct 'real women' cult ... no, posing as a fat woman (to get attention and promote your career) does not make you 'brave', it just promotes obesity, which kills millions of people globally each year, raises the risk of cancer, depression, diabetes, stroke, heart disease and more, and lowers quality of life in many other ways.
I never thought the Pirelli folk would sink so low, which shows you how mainstream these views have gone ... it won't be long before Pirelli are promoting the burqa. I see the Daily Show just did a piece advocating compulsory hijab ... as I said before, it's coming to the US.

What happened to Chelsea Handler? She's my favorite "slutty" comedienne.
Ahw at January 20, 2016 3:03 PM
I've never gotten why Amy Shumer is popular or funny, and any comic who can dish it out but can't take it sucks as a comic.
She needs to go the hell away already.
Daghain at January 20, 2016 4:52 PM
This is like that famous elevator ride by Skepchick Rebecca Watson,
Come now Amy, you must know that speaking (uninvited) to a woman in a well lit, security camera covered, upscale hotel's elevator for 20 seconds or so is the exact same thing a kidnapping her and raping her for days on end
lujlp at January 20, 2016 6:09 PM
If an American woman falls in the forest, and there are no men around to blame - does she exist?
Tina Fey at January 20, 2016 9:28 PM
Only if she is a liberal and Sarah Palin is close enough to blame.
lujlp at January 20, 2016 10:29 PM
Whoever said she just doesn't like other people trying to e funny - I think they nailed it.
I've spent way too much time around standups - and most of them are the most angry, insecure, dysfunctional people you'll ever meet.
The worst among 'em think that comedy is something that people like them do to other people, and among themselves, maybe. Not something that people outside the club do to them.

If someone had posted a comment like this about a comedienne whose routine was totally G-rated, I'd say yeah, crude, rude, and bad taste. But when you say this about yourself, what basis do you have to complain when someone else agrees with you? I would have thought that the appropriate response would have been to fire back a riposte, to say "yeah, you wish" or "hey, I sleep around, but I do have SOME standards" or -- as she's a comedienne and I'm not -- some truly funny comeback.
jay at January 21, 2016 3:19 PM
I can think of so many retorts.
"Normally, I have better taste in men."
"Wouldn't you know it? I left my glasses at home."
"Wouldn't you know it? There was this kindergarten class passing by."
"I'll take a picture with anyone. Preferably Champaign."
Louis Wheeler at January 21, 2016 7:36 PM
Whore? He never mentioned money. She's the one who brought it up.
MarkD at January 25, 2016 5:28 AM
Apparently she thinks that she's the only one entitled of calling herself a slut.
I knew she was dumb, ugly and fat but she also turns out to be hypocrite. Not surprised though.
