This policy, which has been applied against accused students for at least the past five years, was not publicly known until 11 months ago. A state appeals court fleshed out its existence in a due-process lawsuit against the school by a student who was found responsible for cheating and expelled.

That court struck down UCSD’s ruling against Jonathan Dorfman, saying it had no legal reason to withhold the identity of “Student X” – whose test answers Dorfman allegedly copied – from him.

Here is what I think it boils down to. The problem isnt changing the characters race/sex/orientation per se.

The comics did do stuff like that with minor characters all the time, and occasionally major characters.

The problem is the lazy writing and doing it to appease the PC police and SJWs and the failures that arise.

Were this the first instance hard core fans would be pissed, but then again hard core fans are ALWAYS pissed because the movies NEVER align perfectly.

Were this a case (and it could be) of her being the best actor who auditioned MOST general fans wouldnt care.

But we've have more than a decade now of sub par actors being shoehorned into roles for no other reason than public perception of what is 'fair'

And case in point "white boys" were pissed that the Mandarin was played by a white guy. And that he turned out to be a fictional character played by an actor.

Fans were so pissed they had to created a short depicting the "real" Mandarin's forces breaking the actor out of prison presumably to torture him to death for sullying the name of the "real" Mandarin

They were pissed that Iron Man ended with Stark admitting he was Iron Man when in the comics he pretended Iron Man was a robot body guard, Ultra hard core fans were pissed that Tony was depicted as the biological son of Howard when in the comic he had been adopted

The point is hard core fan are always going to be pissed when you fuck with the cannon, and the not so hard core fans are going to be pissed when such changes are made for such specious reasons and the result is a bad story

Fans hated the first three Fantastic Four films even when all the actors were white

They are pissed the a white Tilda Swinton is in Dr Strange.

They hated Bana's Hulk's origin story

I give Marvel a pass because it's the first comic book company that has stopped drawing Asian men in a stereotyped way (ie. permanent hepatitis skin, WWII stereotyped face.)

I love European artists because they put this obsessive attention to detail in the backgrounds, the monsters, and the spaceships, the human bodies are less stacked than what their American (Americans are the opposite and have a superb focus on the human anatomy) counterparts do.

But I won't touch an European comic book/graphic novel (Western Style; faux-manga is a different beast) that has East Asian characters in it. And it is not about cultural appropriation or any sjw BS; but because for them it seems to be biologically impossible for to Google search Asian male faces.
