Too many juicy quotes, read the whole thing. But a taste, about "Bernie's People":
How long can these people peacefully coexist in the same political party as the likes of Joe Biden? These young millennial delegates are the rising generation. They preferred Sanders over Clinton by a margin so overwhelming that the word “landslide” doesn’t even begin to describe it. Their collective vote was more like a tectonic shift that forced a new mountain range up out of the plains.
There’s nothing inevitable in politics, but these delegates, if they take over the Democratic Party in the future, will control the platform and the messaging, and their extreme views, combined with their generation’s startling disregard and even contempt for democratic and broadly liberal principles, will scare the daylights out of moderates in the party and could easily trigger an existential crisis.
We have had first-rate poets: Robert Frost is our national poet, if we must choose. Dylan is a clever satirist, a maker of light verse, a jester who refuses to take us seriously. For that he deserves a modicum of credit (and for his refusal to acknowledge the insufferable stuffed shirts of the Swedish Academy, whom he takes seriously as little as he does his compatriots). To hell with the Swedes, who have always made the mistake of thinking they matter, for daring to instruct us regarding our own literary pantheon. The fact that anyone takes Dylan seriously as a poet is a gauge of our own cultural misery.
I've been waiting for someone to call Dylan's "Lay Lady Lay" abusive of women and indicative of teh Patriarchy.

Well, at least someone is having fun...
I’ve never had this much fun in one year. I’ll be sad after election day, no matter who wins. Unless I am literally insane. In that case I’ll probably keep enjoying myself.
Daylight Saving Time begins (in most of the U.S.) on Nov. 6 ("fall back"). For those of us who feel blue with too many sunny (rather than gloomy) days, it's a life ring after months of light stretching into the evening hours.
From Bratfree (I'm not sure why the OP chose to include a Daily Mail link when I would hope there's SOME other source for the story; the members of Bratfree have little respect for that "newspaper"):
danity:
"The gist: A cafe worker posted the following on the cafe's facebooger page after a long day of screaming brats."
Quote
"We would like to make a comment about the behaviour of some small children today.
"We appreciate that mums come along and bring their children, we do ask that the mothers respect the other clients in the coffee lounge and when their children are screeching and screaming and having tantrums, we would ask the mothers of these children to take them outside till they can behave.
"There are other clients who come for a peaceful relaxing time over tea/coffee and probably a light snack. They do not want to listen to unruly screaming children whose parents cannot keep them under control.
"The post, which has since been deleted, added: 'We send our apologies to those customers who came to Tyme lounge this morning and had to put up with the screeching and screaming of the children.' "
(end)
Note that the cafe worker was civilized enough NOT to identify any culprits.
So what happened as a result?
Read it and weep. Also, note the Bratfree comments on Oct. 23. Quite a few of the others, too.

It's not that your Dad was wrong... The lyrics are weird and the whole damn thing is a piece of cheese. It's aerosol cheez-wiz. It's pasteurized processed cheese food.
But I've always had a soft spot for it because it contains the only extant/known-to-me example of a Dylan melody, even if it's a banal one. Production values, studio performers, all that stuff.
I agree that the cafe staff should have dealt with the loud children right away, but I don't see what's so terrible about their complaining on Facebook WITHOUT mentioning any names, since customers may well see that page before they stumble on the actual cafe, when out and about, and it can help to be warned.

Esquire magazine seems to think that if you are a "public" person, you must speak up on politics:
http://www.esquire.com/entertainment/news/a49739/celebrities-who-have-stayed-politically-neutral/
I could site the apocryphal Michael Jordan quote of "Republicans buy sneakers, too" but that would only confuse the editors at Esquire.
Requiring speech is as dangerous if not more so than trying to squash speech. I'm pretty sure there's a right to shut up.
