There's So Little That Can't Be Turned Shit Brown Through The SJW Lens
The Beach Boys? The fucking Beach Boys have to be ruined? Ben Ratliff wanks -- uh, writes -- in the New York Review of Books:
But time and social change have been rough on the Beach Boys. Their best-known hits (say, "California Girls," "Help Me, Rhonda," "I Get Around") are poems of unenlightened straight-male privilege, white privilege, beach privilege.
Do we really need to use this wonderful, joyously fun song as a jumping off point for more finger-pointing at the awfulness of white people, and, specifically, white people with penises?
"California Girls"Well East coast girls are hip
I really dig those styles they wear
And the Southern girls with the way they talk
They knock me out when I'm down thereThe Mid-West farmer's daughters really make you feel alright
And the Northern girls with the way they kiss
They keep their boyfriends warm at nightI wish they all could be California
I wish they all could be California
I wish they all could be California girlsThe West coast has the sunshine
And the girls all get so tanned
I dig a french bikini on Hawaii island
Dolls by a palm tree in the sandI been all around this great big world
And I seen all kinds of girls
Yeah, but I couldn't wait to get back in the states
Back to the cutest girls in the worldI wish they all could be California
I wish they all could be California
I wish they all could be California girlsI wish they all could be California
(Girls, girls, girls yeah I dig the)
I wish they all could be California
(Girls, girls, girls yeah I dig the)
I wish they all could be California
(Girls, girls, girls yeah I dig the)
I wish they all could be California
(Girls, girls, girls yeah I dig the)
P.S. The Beach Boys were from Hawthorne, a place about five miles from LAX. Not exactly Bel Air by the Airport. Current median income there is a whopping $43,681K (from 2013).
I'm reminded of that notion that "the Jews run the banks." Thanks, gentlemen in the cop costumes...you can put your guns down now. I'll just be going into the vault now to truck home my bajillions.

And the SJW descent into self-parody proceeds apace. "Beach privilege"??
Seriously, if you want to see how songs from that era celebrated male privilege (or what we used to call the "double standard"), compare "Runaround Sue" with "Travelin' Man".

"Beach privilege" LMFAO!!!๐๐๐
The SJW warrior crusade will never end, it seems.

So let's cut an inclusivist-era deal with Ben Ratliff: he can have the fat ones.
Lastango at October 27, 2016 11:35 PM
Africa is the largest continent on earth in zones temperate enough to allow beaches.
Beach privilege is black privilege as more black people have access to beaches than any other demographic world wide
Therefore anyone who disparages beach privilege is a racist

This spin on California girls is also enjoyable and not very SJW [but possibly just W]:

Lyrics:
See them on their big bright screen
Tan and blonde and seventeen
Eating nonfood keeps them mean
But they're young forever
If they must grow up, they marry dukes and earls
I hate California girls
They ain't broke, so they put on airs
The faux folks sans derrieres
They breathe coke and have affairs
With each passing rock star
They come on like squares
Then get off like squirrels
I hate California girls
Looking down their perfect noses at me and my kind
Do they think we won't
Well, never mind
Laughing through their perfect teeth
At everyone I know
Do they think we won't
Get up and go?
So, I have planned my grand attacks
I will stand behind their backs
With my brand-new battle axe
Then they will they taste my wrath
They will hear me say
As the pavement whirls
"I hate California girls..."

So they are okay w/the "Ho's" and "Bitches" in rap music?
Or just smart enough to know that there is enough money, racism, and power (kinda like the Clintons) to leave it alone.

It's not about ruining the Beach Boys or music. It's about ruining fun; about gaining control through imposing a singular and authoritarian view of morality.
It used to be said that fundamentalists were kept awake at night by the fear that someone, somewhere was having fun.
Welcome to the new fundamentalism.

Obviously, you are having unorthodox thoughts about ownlife, which can only lead to Thoughtcrime.
The important Party is not the one you imagine at the beach...

Let us not even speak of the wretched cultural appropriation of the Sloop John B.
I can only imagine how much money the BB's made raiding the cultural capital of folk Caribbean culture.

It's Ben Ratliff--anything to cling to his illusion that he's relevant. So old, so tired, so unoriginal.

I came to Florida for a job, liked the weather, and loved the ladies and the way they talked.
North Florida is also known as South Georgia, so not too many damnyankees or Cubans.

Please don't tell Mr. Ratliff about the Ramones' joyous anthem to babysitting "Beat on the Brat."
Or Blondie's delightful "Rip Her to Shreds," or, better, "X Offender," in which Debbie Harry sexually harasses a street cop so hard she gets sent to jail:
My vision in blue, I call you from inside my cell
And in the trial, you were there with your badge and rubber boots
I think all the time how I'm going to perpetrate love with you
And when I get out, there's no doubt I'll be sex offensive to you
Kevin at October 28, 2016 10:27 AM
I'd love to hear the SJW take on "Little Old Lady from Pasadena". Or "Dead Man's Curve". Especially the Nash the Slash version.
"Beach privilege" sounds awesome. I want some!
Cousin Dave at October 28, 2016 11:32 AM
Of course we do. Because black people never went to the beach, surfed, traveled the world, or ogled girls (except in the nightmares of racist Southern whites).
They certainly never enjoyed the car culture of Southern California. Bill Cosby being unnerved by the Cobra that Carroll Shelby gave him is all you need to know about black people, car culture, and white privilege (the fact that Cosby was a collector of sports cars and found the Cobra's handling dangerously loose is irrelevant).
The pop culture of Southern California was designed to exclude non-whites and subjugate women. Nothing was whiter or more slyly oppressive than Jan and Dean, the Beach Boys, Ronnie and the Daytonas, or Dick Dale. It was white male patriarchy at its most potent. And it must be denigrated, along with the perpetrators, white men.

Were you in a car club in the '60s and crusin' Van Nuys Blvd. or Tweedy Blvd. or Whittier Blvd.? A lot of black guys then (and now) were into lowriders and into street racing, and they were just another part of SoCal car culture then, as in included.
I guess Dick Dale (and my friends play bass and drums for him) was so oppressive that Jimi Hendrix idolized his playing an upside down Strat with the strings in their original location, and with which Dick whipped Jimi.
Oh, and the Beach Boys seemed to not hand down thier exclusion and subjugaton to their kids, one of whom is a close friend.
You really ought to change your sig to "Revisionist Conan the PC Grammarian" as you are an expert in "Slop Culture".
