The pictures were part of a cache of documents purportedly from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and leaked to Vice Motherboard. In 2014, the American Civil Liberties Union revealed that the FDLE had spent $3 million on IMSI catchers since 2008.
If it is indeed the FDLE’s device, the new leaked pictures shine a little bit of light on how cops actually use these devices on American streets. For that reason, Wessler applauded the leak, but also complained that police departments and the FBI should be more transparent.
“It shouldn’t take a leak,” he said, “to just see a picture of this device in action.”

ONCE YOU’VE DECIDED THAT MICRO-AGGRESSIONS, “MISGENDERING,” AND “HURTFUL” CHALKING CAN BE PUNISHED, WHAT GROUND DO YOU HAVE TO STAND ON when criticizing Donald Trump for wanting to outlaw flag-burning? Sure it’s a dumb and unconstitutional idea, but Dems have been on board with lots of those where speech is concerned.
The Pill, that is. And, as you can see, it is not from the Onion.
I didn't know much about Milo Yiannopoulos beforehand, other than that he's an MRA who speaks on college campuses - and gay. I'd assumed he was just an average MRA who got lucky and got famous.
No, he's not "average."
After ranting about the Pill for a while, he says this at the end:
"...When she comes off the drugs, be prepared for all your worst nightmares to come true. You literally just asked an addict to go cold turkey.
"Now, you may be asking what I would have women replace the Pill with, since it’s obviously so awful. Condoms? Vasectomies? The answer is: nothing. We need the kids if we’re to breed enough to keep the Muslim invaders at bay.
"Tossing out birth control isn’t just kinder to women, it may be the only way to save civilisation. Sorry, no offence, but it’s true. And hey! It’s what God wants, too."
Would he be so gung-ho about millions of unwanted babies being born if HE had to pay for them? Not to mention that while nuclear war may or may not happen, if the population doubles (i.e., jumps to 15 billion) in another 50 years, we will DEFINITELY die of famine. The choice between bc access versus no bc access becomes obvious.
And, as commentator lady_black said:
"...I only came here out of morbid curiosity. Articles like this one make people stupider for merely having read them. The author doesn't understand, well, much of anything except that he would very much like women not to use birth control pills and Depo-Provera. He doesn't understand how they work, or what they do to women's bodies (not what he thinks). This isn't a 'you should try an IUD instead' article, although I heartily agree with you about that. My daughter uses one. The new ones are much better."

Milo is mostly a crazy word bomb thrower these days. Very smart but a bit unstable is my guesstimate.
As for your first piece, blackouts and keyed locks aren't going away any time soon. The traditional plow, blue mail box, and dial up internet are already almost gone. As for fast food workers and the incandescent light bulb, those going away are purely due to government policy. A change in policy could easily reverse both trends.
I don't see what fast food worker jobs have to do with how many children a person wants to have. There are other first jobs out there and as long as there are children there will continue to be first jobs.

About that...we're already supposed to have died of famine, or in the wars launched due to famine.
Hmmm...reminds me of the studies regarding rates of domestic violence among same-sex couples.
The authors first present what they learned from the The National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey, an ongoing, nationally representative survey conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that measures both lifetime victimization and victimization within the 12 months prior to questioning. Only the 2010 report provides data on the perpetrator’s sex. It found that over their lifetime, women were vastly more likely to experience abuse perpetrated by men, as were male victims who were penetrated without their consent. “But among men reporting other forms of sexual victimization, 68.6% reported female perpetrators,” the paper reports, while among men reporting being made to penetrate, “the form of nonconsensual sex that men are much more likely to experience in their lifetime ... 79.2% of victimized men reported female perpetrators.”
"I'm not saying physical keys are any great shakes, but they're hackable only if you are physically close to the key."
Physical *locks* can often be "hacked" without any key at all. Most keyed locks are not nearly as secure as people think. Back in the days of physical locks on car doors, many manufacturers used locks in which there were only a few hundred possible key combinations. I once opened someone else's car (same make, model and color as mine) by mistake using my key. I was confused when I got in and saw that there was a big pile of laundry in the back seat, since I'm not the type that keeps clothing in the car. It was such an unexpected event that I honestly thought I was hallucinating. I had to get out, lock the door, and then open it again with my key to convince myself it had really happened.
A co-worker of mine tells a story about the days when the rental cars had fleets of Ford Taurus models, most of then painted white. He went to a conference, and on stepping out of the conference center, he was confronted by a parking lot full of white Tauruses. He got in the one that he thought was his; the key started it and he drove off. It wasn't his, and the person who had rented it called the police and reported it stolen. Big mess.

There's a number of reasons to ban comments, but few if any have anything to do with giving a damn about your community. Most websites, writers and editors simply don't want to spend the time or money to moderate trolls or cultivate local community because it takes a little effort, and quality human discourse can't be monetized on a pie chart. Instead, it's easier and cheaper to simply outsource all public human interactivity to Facebook. In addition to being simpler, it avoids the added pitfalls of a public comment section where corrections to your story errors are posted a little too visibly.
Two things should stand out to those trying to understand the thinking of the next HHS Secretary (assuming Senate confirmation).
Price told me unequivocally that reforming the system has to start with fully repealing Obamacare: "It needs to be fully repealed, because the first step out of the gate for Obamacare is a step in the wrong direction and that is for government control over every aspect of health care, so it's hard to fix the system that they have put in place without ending that premise that government ought to be running and controlling health care."
At the same time, in contrast to some conservatives, Price told me, "Coverage is important, and our bill, the 'Empowering Patients First Act,' we believe provides not just an incentive, but the financial feasibility for every single American to purchase the coverage that they want." He added that "the system doesn't work if people aren't covered."

Cousin Dave,
The easiest way to 'hack' most home locks is with a screw driver and a hammer. For the discerning thief there are physical key descrambers. They try most every combination in a few minutes. But current phone based key systems are less secure than that Ford you referenced. So this feels like a solution in search of a problem to me. Also, do keyless systems work when the power goes out? If you access it with your cell phone I doubt it. Being unable to get into your house when there is an outage is a deal breaker for me.
Gog,
That is why the US leads in the international sperm markets. Too many crazy regulation make it stupid to be a donor most places.
I could have spelled it out better. My point was that if fast-food workers can become obsolete, so can plenty of other minimum wage jobs (and maybe the majority of those are held by adults). Not to mention that many families have, in fact, always survived on minimum wage jobs. So the competition for jobs that don't require trade school or college is likely to get pretty brutal.
Also, teens very often work because their parents need their money - which the parents probably wouldn't if they hadn't had kids in the first place. Or at least too many kids.
