Social Justice Grifters Come After Ellen Pompeo As If She'd Tweeted Burning Cross Emojis
Pompeo, the "Grey's Anatomy" actress who is married to a black man and has bi-racial children, tweeted approvingly to A&E over their changing the title of their documentary about the Ku Klux Klan.
It was "Generation KKK"; A&E changed it to "Escaping the KKK: A Documentary Series Exposing Hate in America."
Here's Pompeo's initial tweet:
Those emojis are basically the color of her children -- perhaps intentional, perhaps not.
I think that's kind of nice, especially if she uses those to match her children's skin color.
Why do the emoji colors have to match the person sending the emojis?
Answer: Because people who need to signal their importance and their membership in a certain group -- those sneering at "white privilege" -- say they do.
There used to be this notion of equality -- that Martin Luther King thing of judging people by the content of their character. I love that speech.
But now, both feminists and others in the social justice arena aren't calling for equal treatment but special treatment. Kid glove treatment. Treatment where they're in power and whatever they say, no matter how illogical or ugly, goes.
At Heat Street, Lukas Mikelionis reports:
Rather than appreciating Pompeo's reaction to the decision, a number of Twitter users took offense to her usage of black emojis. One user, who has since set her account private, wrote: "It's not fair to see a privileged white woman use [people of color] emojis just because you can.""It comes off as really obnoxious," she added.
The actress replied saying "Don't be a hater I do it because racism is not just a black problem it is all of our problem get it???" In another tweet, she wrote: What's crazy is how angry everyone is... this is all about emojis people".
Others called her "white bitch" and said "SHUT UP, WHITE LADY."
Pro tip: If you want to pretend you're all about fighting racism, don't say racially hateful things -- not even to a white person.
Eventually Pompeo decided to apologize for causing offense, writing "I'm so sad that people attacked me over standing up for equality I'm sad that people chose anger and I'm sorry if I offended anyone".
I'm sorry she apologized.
I'm guessing why she did -- perhaps because her intention all along was to say something positive and she got a little beaten down by all the unexpected hate and ugliness she got in return.

I don't go on 4chan and exclaim that women deserve respect anymore than I would go on twitter and discuss anything about race.
I think celebrities need to be educated about the hivemind.
Ppen at December 30, 2016 4:38 AM
This isn't hivemind so much as it's sick policing of speech for those who signal group membership and "virtue" by parroting certain standards.
Amy Alkon at December 30, 2016 6:06 AM
Back in the day (BID), the only correct response would have been:
"F you and the horse you rode in on."
(from urban dictionary: term used to tell someone to fuck off and get off there pedestal}

This behavior isn't exclusive to leftie twitter and it would benefit celebrities to educate themselves on their audience.
Twitter is obsessed with race and transgendered rights. If you disturb the hivemind ever so slightly on those two issues they will attack you. Is it right? Of course not but I really don't care that celebrities are still this uneducated about the nastiness of the public. She should have ignored the comments but instead pulled a Chrissy Teigen.
Every large scale internet community has a hivemind, each with their own triggers. I've seen equally nasty shit on reddit attacking celebrities that do AMA's and dare say anything that could be construed against millennial white men (i.e. babyboomers aren't keeping you down).
Celebrities need to learn how to maneuver the hiveminds of each respective community and I have little sympathy for them for not knowing how to play with fire properly. They're just not used to dealing with the public so directly and they still operate under the assumption they are respected by virtue of being in the public eye.

Bob, I prefer "If I wanted any lip from you, I'd kick you in the mouth and scrape it off my shoe."
James Armstrong at December 30, 2016 6:57 AM
She was trying to SJW hard on twitter (as white women celebrities often do) and it backfired on her. She got the wrath of the hivemind.
Ppen at December 30, 2016 7:00 AM
Sometimes I think the world is going to hell in a hand basket but then I read an article about people bitching about the skin color on an emoji and I think perhaps things aren't so bad.

"She got the wrath of the hivemind."
SJW drone: *Resistance if futile.*
Normals: "No it isn't."

I never in a million years would have noticed the color of the emojis unless someone pointed it out to me.

"I'm confused." Me as well Fayd. Something to do with "agency" which I thought was part of a group name.

Don't tell the Internet that I used to prank (white) friends by sending them birthday cards from the Hallmark "Mahogany" section.
Kevin at December 30, 2016 9:44 AM
Ppen is right. BLM is prominent on twitter and most of its members are virulent racists. They'll find any reason to attack a white person. She should have stayed away from the topic.
Twitter is very one sided in its policing and won't touch the SJWs , that's why they've taken over and twitter is crashing.
Margo at December 30, 2016 11:59 AM
and twitter is crashing
I should have taken some money and shorted the hell out of TWTR stock...

I've personally always been fond of
"When I want you to open your mouth I'll take my pants off"

Also given how often Pompeo has said nothing as her boss Shonda trys to fuck over every actor who dares disagree with her over even the most innocuous of subjects I don't really care when the same happens to her

"Oh, why don't you stop annoying people"
Now, that's a classic!
