Terrific and actually shocking piece by Claire Lehmann on how denial of biolog sex differences - and pariah-izing of researchers who study them - has hurt women's health.
Crid, fave quote from your Taki cite (although there are many to choose from):
No right-wing Christian ever forced me to anoint with oil. But leftist charlatans posing as scientists banned the only type of inhaler that helped my elderly mom’s asthma, because the act of her going “puff puff” so she wouldn’t die was bringing about the end of days, while Al Gore’s totally unnecessary private jet oddly had no effect on the environment.

The United States is coming to resemble two countries, one rural and one urban. What happens when they go to war?
Short answer: you don't want to find out.
Longer answer: only a fool wages war on the people that sell him food.
I'll turn it over to William Jennings Bryan to provide illumination.
You come to us and tell us that the great cities are in favor of the gold standard. I tell you that the great cities rest upon these broad and fertile prairies. Burn down your cities and leave our farms, and your cities will spring up again as if by magic. But destroy our farms and the grass will grow in the streets of every city in the country.

Fuck I hate rural peoples hard on for (supposedly) providing our food. Like we are supposed to worship them, even though all you have to see is the stats about how many are actually working in that shit.
William Jennings Bryan lived in a time when 50% of Americans worked directly in farming. Now it's less than 2% and dropping. Not only that but 50% hired crop workers are illegals. I know here in California (your fav. state and largest food producer even republicans are having a panic attack about deporting illegals).
Its an industry that's being largely automated. Hell the plants are pesticizing themselves.
When we city folk grow our meat in a lab, and vertical farm and import our gluten free quinoa from a farmer in bumfuck Peru via an app will you rural people finally shut the fuck up with your undeserved pride.
We have gotten so damn efficient at not only producing food, but importing it from around the globe that rural folks pride about that shit is to me incredibly laughable. It's like can I be prideful about all the shit us city people do for you turkeys?
I'll wage a war with you fuckers no problem. But frankly I would like to go back to a time when we could ignore each other. But you guys keep getting in the way of my free trade globalist dreams.

Don't kid yourself.
You, personally, will never grow anything in any context. Certainly not nutritious food, and CERTAINLY not nutritious "meat in a lab." The vast majority of labor that needs to be done on this planet will be done by people for less money than you've ever made in your life, people who place precisely 0¢ of worth to whatever work it is that that lets you pay your gas bill.
And I'd wager you couldn't swap out a gas valve if there were a pistol to your head... But it's the competence of voters you so recklessly demean that prevents precisely such a scenario because you hate the California winters wherein the temperature plunges below 60°.
And I could go on like this, but get over yourself.

As for the Charlie Martin insurance article in PJ Media that Darth linked to, it's a good explanation of basic insurance math. What he was (I think) trying to touch on, but didn't actually say: there was a discussion on a Yahoo group that Reynolds linked to yesterday about prenatal-care provisions in health insurance, and why men and post-menopausal / sterile women should be forced to pay for it. The people who advocate that say that everyone has to "share the risk", to make it cheaper for the women who will need it.
Putting aside for the moment that the need for prenatal care is a predictable event and not probabilistic: outside of health insurance (where there usually isn't an option), nobody buys insurance for a risk that they don't expect to incur. "Sharing the risk", as the phrase was meant, simply does not occur and never has. it's like arguing that people who don't drive should be compelled to buy auto insurance anyway, so that it will be cheaper for people who do drive. No. Just no.

Historically, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulates meat, poultry, and eggs, whereas the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) oversees safety and security for food additives. FDA also approves so-called biologics, which include products made from human tissues, blood, and cells, and gene therapy techniques. But emerging biotechnologies may blur those lines of oversight, because some of the new foods don’t fit neatly into existing regulatory definitions. “Cellular culture raises a lot of questions,” says Isha Datar, CEO of New Harvest, a New York City–based nonprofit founded to support this nascent industry.
After several seconds spent sitting motionless and glaring directly into the camera, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton reportedly began Sunday’s video announcing her 2016 presidential bid by warning the nation not to fuck this up for her.
“Listen up, assholes, ’cause I’m only saying this once: I’ve worked way too goddamn hard to let you morons blow this thing for me,” said Clinton, repeatedly jabbing her index finger toward the viewers at home while adding that if they thought she was going to simply sit back and watch them dick her over like they did in 2008, they were out of their fucking minds.
“Seriously, don’t you dare even think about it. If you shitheads can just get in line, we can breeze through this whole campaign in 19 months and be done with it. Or, if you really want, we can do this the hard way. Because make no mistake, I’m not fucking around. Got it?”
Clinton then ended her announcement by vowing to fight for a better future for all working-class families like the one she grew up in.
