The Longing For Tainted, Slanted Science -- Along Ideological Lines
What is science? From the UK Science Council:
Science is the pursuit and application of knowledge and understanding of the natural and social world following a systematic methodology based on evidence.
From me -- what science is not:
Science is not about shoving the evidence under the rug because it seems "nicer" and more in line with academic "progressivism."
Yet, more and more, we see calls for this sort of thing -- from scientists or science-adjacent people who don't seem the least bit ashamed to make them. In fact, these people -- like this woman just below -- seem to be trying to recreate science in the form of a religion. (Pro tip: Her "honestly" means anything but that.)

And here's the first cousin to this sort of thinking, just down the hall in the liberal arts department. (Read Claire Lehmann's comment at the bottom first.)
Can you believe this fascistic philistinism was published in the @NewRepublic, a formerly great liberal journal? https://t.co/yFa6M0Zvqs pic.twitter.com/OHLymryvc3

I blogged about this yesterday:
Artists Standing In For An Authoritarian State, Telling Another Artist What She Can't Paint And Demanding Her Work Be Destroyed

I love her word "think".... Really puts her intentions out there in a naked and expository way.

That shirt you linked to is right on. Science doesn't care -- and is right to not care -- and the moment you stick the "We need to care" in, it's no longer science.

Anyone aspiring to the label "scientist" needs to understand the difference between normative and non-normative statements...and to understand that only the latter is the domain of science.

This is not unexpected. It is the progressive way.
