Yeah... '75... I saw that tour.
Seriously, it was a convincing proof the old saying that when you can't sell the steak (i.e., your lead guitarist's a heroin addict and your drummer's a drinker), you sell the sizzle (the best possible staging will make a musician sound better).

Have you all heard Keith on NPR promoting his book, Life?
Surprise! Consumer of millions of dollars' worth of drugs remains articulate and genteel.
"And Mick see, I write songs for Mick to sing, you know, that's what I do." - Keith Richards, calmly stating that he has a clear grasp of his role.
Can you state what you do so clearly?

Well, they were always more clowns than composers.
Keef's book isn't that great. Clapton's was weak too. None of those guys has offered an interesting memoir, and they're dropping like flies. Mick probably could, if we could possibly imagine a motive for him to do so. Their investment manager knocked one out a few years ago, but all I read was the quotes in the newspapers.

Big difference between writing some songs and writing a whole book, even good songs. And Stones' songs were never story songs, more eruptions of feelings or pieced together reminiscences.
You gotta keep the narrative going in a book. I don't think most of those guys have it in them anymore to string together more than a 2-minute song, if they ever did.

Also from the mid-70's this guy.
It didn't catch on. Or if it did, it was over by the first weekend.

I would guess that those guys had ghost writers.

"Can you state what you do so clearly?"
Of course!
I coalesce the vapor of human experience into a viable and logical comprehension.
