From this interesting article on Page Six, Julianne Moore speaks like a true statist:
Moore, who plays a double role in the pic, made a clear-cut a statement on the issues being raised by Charlottesville.
“We are living in the United States where people are arguing about removing Confederate monuments: They must be removed,” she said. “You simply cannot have these figures from the Civil War in town squares and in universities for our children to see. As a parent and as a citizen I need to be active in the eradication of those, in the re-education of everyone. We have to take responsibility for it.”
Bolding is mine. She's such a little Stalinist, isn't she?
"t seems to me the elephant in the room people that keep breezing past is whether or not these people are psychologically similar."
"A big swathe of the bad things that have happened over the last 10,000 years can be attributed to hormonally charged young men pulling stupid crap."

It’s official, summer 2017 is on its way to being the first sub-$4 billion summer at the box office in a decade.
With about a week left in the summer movie season — defined as the first Friday in May through Labor Day weekend — the box office has garnered $3.7 billion. The summer box office is down 14% compared with last year and down 13% compared with 2015, according to data from Box Office Mojo.
My choice would be Beverli, even though, paradoxically, it was twenty years later... She showed me how romantic things blossom when you're not paying attention. She talked about going to see SD at Thomas & Mack, and laughing at the people who paid for close seats. "Who ever thought those guys were for looking at?" She had a point.
Tom Scott at the peak of his powers, too... So outrageous.
Goodnight, gentlemen. You improved the campground.

Wait...not The Onion?
Whole Foods has long been a top grocery destination for shoppers eager to spend unnecessarily large amounts of money on food that makes them feel superior to others.
Sadly, that dynamic is about to end. Online retailer Amazon is expected to close on its acquisition of Whole Foods next week and will immediately start — hold my locally sourced camel milk — lowering prices.

There's a needy, passive-aggressive, emotionally manipulative thing happening with Trump voters... A comfortable recourse to back-seat-on-a-trip-to-Grammaw's sarcasm that doesn't convey sturdy belief or articulate defense of ideas.

DACA is over! #stillwinning ~ Snoopy at September 3, 2017 6:52 PM
Should we really be that overjoyed that people brought here as young children, who have up to now been productive members of our community, are being exiled to what is to them a foreign country where they don't speak the language and have no family, friends, or jobs?
Is this cause for raucous celebration? Are we that heartless that this is supposed to give us joy?
Trump, at least, had the decency to delay enforcement for six months, giving Congress enough time to pass a law allowing these folks to stay or put forth a program to earn citizenship; that is, if anyone in Congress still has balls enough to take an actual stand on anything but his own reelection. You know, since immigration law is Congress' responsibility and DACA was in fact unconstitutional to begin with.
"Are we that heartless that this is supposed to give us joy?"
Yes, that's us. Heartless Americans who never lifted a finger for anyone on the planet, ever.
Us bastards!

Here's an idea: if the DACA-oids serve in our military or some alternate form of civil service to prove their loyalty to our country, that is supposedly their country as well, I have NO problem with them staying and even having the path to citizenship. Otherwise, I'd prefer to be "heartless."

That's what I want. An army of resentful non-citizen foreigners struggling with their ESL classes.

Gog, I'm not saying the US hasn't helped people or that DACA wasn't executive overreach. I'm questioning Snoopy's joy at sending people to what it, to them, a foreign country.
While necessary, this move should not be greeted with unbridled joy, but with somber reflection.
And whether Trump is desperate or actually showing some humanity (just being desperate about it shows some humanity), delaying implementation to give Congress a chance to debate what to do is the right thing to do.
