How timely! Just the other day while driving home I came upon a car traveling about 15 miles an hour slower than the rest of traffic. I expected to see a cell phone user when I passed. Instead, this guy had his head cocked digging in his nose with his thumb. Totally oblivious to his surroundings.
Why does this happen? Do people think they are invisible when they are in a car?

They assume you are looking at either the road, or your cell phone, not them.
Now you know what that aggressive window tint is for.

Desperately needed that laugh, Amy! Thanks!
Also, it does seem that people feel as if they're unobservable while in the confines of a car. I think it's partly their own distracted state and the fact that they're in a fairly isolated, though largely transparent, container.

And for something even funnier:
Dianne Feinstein is outraged that the CIA may have been snooping through the Senate's computers.
This is the same Intelligence Committee Senator Feinstein who claims she doesn't know anything about NSA deliberately abusing its powers.
The same Sen. Feinstein who supported the Patriot Act twice and scolded the press for criticizing it as surveillance.
Welcome to our world, Your Royal Highness.

However uncouth, a man with a tongue like that would never lack for female company!
