Why Doesn't The U.N. Demand That Superman And Batman Have Dad Bods?
If Superman and Batman were real, at their age, they'd likely have "dad bods" and male pattern baldness.
But nobody expects superheroes to be real; we expect them to be exaggerated, fabulous physical specimens of humanity.
@ClairLemon just tweeted that "The United Nations just dropped Wonder Woman as an ambassador for female empowerment because of this petition."
An excerpt from the petition:
Wonder Woman was created 75 years ago. Although the original creators may have intended Wonder Woman to represent a strong and independent "warrior" woman with a feminist message, the reality is that the character's current iteration is that of a large breasted, white woman of impossible proportions, scantily clad in a shimmery, thigh-baring body suit with an American flag motif and knee high boots -the epitome of a "pin-up" girl. This is the character that the United Nations has decided to represent a globally important issue - that of gender equality and empowerment of women and girls. It appears that this character will be promoted as the face of sustainable development goal 5 for the United Nations at large. At a time when issues such as gender parity in senior roles and the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse of women and girls is at the top of the United Nation's agenda, including the "He for She" campaign, this appointment is more than surprising. It is alarming that the United Nations would consider using a character with an overtly sexualized image at a time when the headline news in United States and the world is the objectification of women and girls...
Wonder Woman is no "object."
The fact that she's hot makes her not a suitable role model for girls? Idiotic.
Same as it would be if we called Batman a poor role model for those insane abs.
And, like it or not, UN-ers and petition-signers, fictional characters probably hit home with more girls (and boys) than some older real person. So you've eliminated a chance for girls to connect with a figure who might have inspired them.
The truth is, we look for imagery that's inspirational and aspirational. (Frankly, having a pin-up bod isn't unrealistic; it's just not the body shape every woman has.)
I loved watching "Wonder Woman" when I could as a kid. (We had to sneak TV when my mom ran errands, because she didn't let us watch, save for Disney on Sunday nights and children's TV on PBS, which I was always too much of a short adult for.)
(I also loved "The Bionic Woman," and the strong superhero Lindsay Wagner portrayed. Same with Angie Dickenson as Sgt. Pepper Anderson on "Police Woman.")
Wonder Woman was badass -- stopping bullets with her wrist cuffs. That's what my mind first goes to when I think of Wonder Woman. It was power imagery for me. A superhero who was a girl.
It probably informs who I am today. Though I don't stop bullets with bracelets, I stop abusive assholes when I can with my big mouth, my keyboard, and my brain.

Why Doesn't The U.N. Demand That Superman And Batman Have Dad Bods?
Because they don't give a fuck about boys' feelings.

If you want to compare physiques, at least Wonder Woman's is achievable for some portion of the female population. Consider male superhero characters like Paul Bunyan, Sgt. Rock, or the Incredible Hulk. As portrayed in the comics, they are superhuman in every sense of the word -- no male alive could ever hope to match their physiques.
Wonder Woman deserves better than to be associated with a bunch of leftist pablum anyhow.

At least Batman is human. Most of the rest aren't. As Lujlp keeps pointing out, Wonder Woman is a golem. Superman is some sort of crystalline life form that only mimics human outward appearance. Hulk was once human but how human is he anymore? Thor, Asguardian. I.e. alien. Even the bottom of the barrel in the Justice League Aquaman is an Atlantean. Not human. Perhaps indigenous to earth but I don't really know.
So if you want to be a superhero kids have amazing space aliens for parents. How's that for role models. At least Luthor is the same species.

On an ev psych note, consider this as "mate competition" -- women yanking the hottie off the stage.

Gregg: "Do you want Barbie or her lumpy friend, Delores?"
Also: "Is ugly the new beauty?"
Amy Alkon at December 14, 2016 9:52 AM
Gregg has another idea: "What about when you're doing all this street-shaming, going out there as Wonder Woman?"
Me: "Do you remember how long it takes me to get dressed?"
Gregg realizes that this is a good point.
Gregg: "The world has gotten ridiculous. It's time for either the Apocalypse or an asteroid."

Perhaps the character Faith should be more fitting for the U.N.

The Green Lanterns are human. Well, some of them.

I'm pretty sure that had I gone to Nanda Parbat and trained under the watchful (and vengeful) eye of Ra's al Ghul, I'd be a model human.
I didn't think you were real.
I'm real when it's useful.

The left does not want you to judge them because they reject striving to be better. Since there is not god in their view, there is no reason for self-improvement and since trying to improve necessarily involves a comparison against something better, it makes one feel bad about oneself. Since the only sin is to feel bad, heroes must be gotten rid of. Superheroes are the worst, but also saints or the brilliant. Striving does not justify getting more rewards--we should all get participation trophies.

Wonder Woman is neither white or American, she is not even a woman or human.
In most of her incarnations she isnt ever even technically a living biological being

If Amy Schumer is Barbie, Wonder Woman should have modeled after Lena Dunham.
Of course, even Lena Dunham is too Jewish for the General Assembly.

No wonder today's feminists hate Wonder Woman. This is from Wikipedia, but I'll check the info with my comic book loving SO tonight.
Wonder Woman was created by the American psychologist and writer William Moulton Marston,[1] with his wife and co-creator Elizabeth Holloway Marston, and artist H. G. Peter. Their cohabitant, Olive Byrne, is credited as being Marston's muse for the iconic characters' physical appearance.][1][2][3][4][5] Marston drew a great deal of inspiration from early feminists, and especially from birth control pioneer Margaret Sanger. The character first appeared in All Star Comics #8 in December 1941 and first cover-dated on Sensation Comics #1, January 1942. The Wonder Woman title has been published by DC Comics almost continuously except for a brief hiatus in 1986.[6]

Adults knowing or caring about "superheroes" is one of the cultural disasters of our age, and a prime symptom of kidultism.
One of the prime jokes in A Confederacy of Dunces, written about 50 years ago, was how Ignatius Reilly -- probably in his late twenties -- doted on Batman. Today adults actually have opinions on who is the "better Batman."
Can you imagine mid-20th-century American adults having strong opinions on which was the best Superman in the movie serials?

Let's not forget Wonder Woman's bondage origins:
"The only hope for peace is to teach people who are full of pep and unbound force to enjoy being bound... Only when the control of self by others is more pleasant than the unbound assertion of self in human relationships can we hope for a stable, peaceful human society... Giving to others, being controlled by them, submitting to other people cannot possibly be enjoyable without a strong erotic element." ~ William Marston
"Give them an alluring woman stronger than themselves to submit to, and they'll be proud to become her willing slaves!" ~ William Marston

Feminists are not ruining Wonder Woman because they care about Wonder Woman, per se.
They are trying to destroy Wonder Woman as an icon because men like her. Hot. Strong. Dresses like men think women should dress. Gets tied up a lot. What is not to like?
They have no problem with women being strong or sexy or hot...but they hate for MEN to profit from women being strong and sexy and hot. That man should WANT a girl who is strong and sexy and hot.
Is there any wonder why Feminists are hated by men and increasing numbers of women?
