A silly opinion. People are naturally tribal. Amy is a Jew, like me, so she should know this. The main reason Jews are successful is that they have a large in group preference and they tend to help other Jews.

The answer is for men to start playing group politics because women won't stop playing group politics anytime soon.

I think Amy's opinion on this is not at all silly, and in fact correct.

Says who? When Jews are successful, like other successful people, they're good at dealing with whoever shows up in their chosen marketplace, whatever the faith.

Women in STEM is the Breast Cancer Awareness of academic initiatives.

The amount of money and resources devoted to the issue far surpasses its utility, much less demand and even outstrips the capacity for institutions to apply those resources.

It's also worth noting that the results have been marginal, primarily resulting in more young women entering and soon leaving STEM programs. But the degree and career attainment numbers really haven't changed significantly - and may be worse for native born students, as they are now dominated by female students from East Asia.

There is the tiny, tiny, detail that they have cultural traditions that value hard work, intense study, strong families, trust in God and respect for the laws of whatever land they find themselves living in. These things sound a little old-fashioned nowadays, but it seems to work for them.

What is it with you guys and game show hosts?

In the "name of diversity", Harvard discriminated against jews for most of the 20th century, and yet jews STILL got way more nobel prizes than their population %. Leftists would portion out nobel prizes by ethnic group too if they could.

It is worth noting that in high tech endeavors, the top 1% produce something like 50% of the work or innovations or patents. The guy at Google who left with a big severance (can't remember name) single handedly invented the Android operating system, where by contrast Microsoft typically has had 1000 people working on IE (and it was crap). A society should be very careful about discouraging the top performers.

Certain groups want rights, but they want only other groups to have responsibilities. That's the trouble with "identity" politics and "diverse" institutions -- the interface can only ever be between individuals.

So far, the only group with no acknowledged rights but all of the responsibilities? White men. Some day, those white guys are going to figure things out. When no good deed goes unpunished, expect the supply of good deeds to decline -- precipitously.

Similarly, it's perfectly acceptable to be racist, as long as you are racist against the out-groups. You know what it really is? Because it replaces vengeance with something better. Vengeance doesn't just kill people; it kills entire societies. It destroys the basic trust between people which is needed for a civilization to function. And if it succeeds in eliminating one scapegoat group, its insatiable hunger demands that more be designated. It seeks to return humanity to a primitive state, in which its advocates foolishly imagine themselves as tribal strongmen. In that, it is the work of an absolutely monumental ego, one so overgrown that it cannot be reasoned with.

Its advocates, whether they realize it or not, are in effect advocating the end of civilization. As such, they must be regarded as not just misandrist or misogynist or whatever, but as misanthropist.

So far, the only group with no acknowledged rights but all of the responsibilities? White men. Some day, those white guys are going to figure things out. When no good deed goes unpunished, expect the supply of good deeds to decline -- precipitously.

If they're very very lucky, that'll be the extent of it. They will also be shocked, shocked to find an Other who starts operating like a group, but one with relatively large numbers. Already starting, with essays on the problem with the way white voted in the last two elections. Shocked that the white women weren't more woke, and less tribal. Whoops.
