How conservatives came to see libertarianism as an irrelevant academic exercise. I strongly disagree, but I can see how someone could reach that conclusion.

Unclear on the concept.
U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib told Detroit police Chief James Craig he should employ only black people on the department’s facial recognition team because “non-African Americans think African-Americans all look the same.”
Publishing insiders said the country-music superstar had interest from major imprints — but that she went with Chronicle and Recorded so she could get better terms on the tome’s audio rights.
“She would not go with a major publisher — though many were interested,” a source said.
The source added that Parton opted for the smaller imprints because, “no major publishers are willing to part with audio rights. Dolly wanted a term license that could revert [back to her] in 10 years.”
Gog, one reporter who'd covered many criminal trials said she'd never seen a judge hug ANYONE, fwiw. And a certain liberal broadcaster said this morning that judge's hug was way out of line. (He also said that what the victim's brother wanted to do was his own business, of course.)
In the meantime, there were fascinating discussions about the issue of forgiveness. The white broadcasters admitted they had never heard of, say, the white loved ones of a white victim forgiving - or being EXPECTED to forgive - a black murderer.
They and others also mentioned how not forgiving - especially in non-criminal cases, naturally - tends to poison the wronged party far more than the wrongdoer. However, I would have added that one doesn't have to forgive in order to forget. If, say, you find that your lover has been cheating on you with your best friend, what's wrong with forgetting about the affair - plus the fact that either one of those people EXISTS? (If that's how you prefer to deal with them.)
Look at Crid or Amy Cousin Dave. Both are fairly staunch libertarians. Amy consistently votes Democrat in national elections. I don't know how Crid votes but he is generally unreliable. A strong focus on appearance or style over function.
After the Tea Party got broken up by the Obama admin those voters didn't go away. They just weren't able to organize as effectively anymore. And they learned their lesson. Being polite and responsible doesn't get you anywhere. Politics is a dirty game and if you want to get anywhere you need to be able to inflict pain.
I will say I disagree with Hayward on why so many of the Republican candidates fell so fast. It wasn't a style issue. It was purely policy. There were only two candidates who talked about illegal immigration and border security. Those two candidates got 2/3s of the votes. In the end Trump as crude as he may be looked less of an asshole than Cruz. So Trump won.
After the elections Republican 'elites' and libertarians fully confirmed the suspicions other Republicans had of them. NeverTrumpers like George Will made it very clear. And now those NeverTrumpers are people without a party.
That said the so called 'Trumpistas' or 'Trumpers' don't reject libertarian goals. Far from it. But they do recognize that actual libertarians don't have those goals in any real format. Instead libertarian's real goals are sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll or looking like a TV president. Smaller government spending isn't any more than a sales pitch by libertarians. A goal easily abandoned.

You dislike my "function"?
The "focus" on my "appearance" is your own, but it's completely understandable... Because I am fucking gorgeous.
These days I believe that Hanlon's razor has become irrelevant, and malice is always the case.

I wonder if a male judge has ever hugged and given a gift to a male cop who murdered an unarmed woman sitting in her own living room.
Just curious.
