Tell me again how agreements like the Paris Accords are gonna hold developing nations like China to account for their share of any environmental damage.

I think Lehmann of Quilette has made her first big misstep, and it's a doozy.
Here's the Marinos thing, unrolled.
1. We all need to understand that Twitter is best used for truly short messages. Long chains don't work so well.
2. It bugs me to see Berlinski being so (apparently) incautious.
3. In general, I'm team Weinstein even if he gets things wrong occasionally, and it's not certain that he's wrong in this case.

It's πΌππππ πͺπππ ππ'π π²ππππππππππ π²πππππ!
Remember that thing from late last night where Milankovitch Cycles of planetary motion moved nomadic humanity onto farms, and into civilization, about twelve thousand years ago?
Here's another one like that.

I've seen that one before, it's all about cotton and where it could be grown.
The cultivation of short-staple vs. long-staple cotton played a role, too.

China is proof of Bismark's remark
When you say you agree to a thing in principle you mean that you have not the slightest intention of carrying it out in practice.

IRA, I heartily and sincerely recommend this book, Machiavelli for non-majors.
One of his great pieces advice when pushing a piece of legislation, while arguing the merits with adversaries: Always agree on principle. When they say "But surely you'll concede that as a matter of principle, ABC123β¦" you nod and say "Absolutely! ABC definitely 123! And as regards the particulars of this new regulation...."
The book was written before Matthews became famous for other things. I'll buy you a copy if you want.

If you had a bunch of money and a reason to spend a season in Chicago β and I recognize that these are somewhat contradictory propositionsβ wouldn't it be cool to live for a while in Marina City?
No?
Okay, never mind. You're right.
But still, it's a classic American building.

Well Sixclaws since Cubans fleeing Communism tend to vote Republican, same with Venezuela refugees under Obama. Democrats hate them, deny that they could be refugees, which unlike most who arrive at the boarder they have a pretty good case.
Just shows it has nothing to do with skin color or need, it has to do with gaining political power.
There are many refugees out there that Dems are against, white South Africans, Middle Eastern Christians, Venezuelans, Hong Kong and Cubans escaping their collectivist countries, Middle Easterners who helped the US.

I thought it was the Republicans against the Middle Easterners/Central Asians who helped the US immigrating here? Or maybe it's everybody...

The only ones I've heard saying we need to do something were right/center leaning media.
Though like claiming Republicans are for 'abolishing/defunding police' Dems will claim anything buried in a 1000 page bill was the real reasons Republicans voted against it.
