Why so much Obama-era pop culture feels so cringe now

What can I say, the title drew me in. For the TL;DNR crowd the summary is Hillary lost an election so no Democrats don't have to pretend to like work. Personally I don't see that connection. But it was an interesting scan that said more about the author than anything else.

Similar thing happened in the US a few years ago when some bureaucrat in the DC government thought New Mexico was a foreign country.

In the middle of the Ebola epidemic of 2014, a Liberian named Duncan helped a very ill pregnant woman get to the hospital, then flew to Dallas, TX to visit family. A few days later he became ill and went to an emergency room. The nurse did not know Liberia was in Africa, and he was given antibiotics (of no use against any virus) and sent back to the family he was visiting. An ambulance brought him back about 4 days later, and Ebola was recognized this time. Treatment started too late for him, and he died in the hospital. Also, two nurses at the hospital caught it, but recovered after treatment.
Duncan was one of only two who died in the USA; both flew from Africa, not suspecting they had caught it. Seven others were medevacked to the US with known or suspected Ebola infections and treatment started; they all recovered. The two nurses from the hospital that screwed up were the only infections transmitted within the USA - even the people Duncan stayed with until he had to be carried out to an ambulance were OK.
