How dumb were the interns for agreeing to be abused like that?? The stupidity of some people never ceases to amaze me. o_O

Every absurdity has its passionate defenders.
PETA is amongst the most despicable of activist groups. How can anyone waste time with an organization like that, when there are serious problems that need to be addressed?
I can't take vegans to seriously in general, they survive in this world only because we are so overwhelmingly modernized, they can pop pills from the GNC to make up for vitamin shortfalls due to diet, they can get fruits and vegetables to provide nutrients that are not locally available, and buy cheap and comfortable clothing that requires no effort on their part to produce or maintain.
I wonder how many vegans would survive the first month after say, the start of a new dark age.

now that's what I like to see in an employee... blind obedience!!! NOT!!!
First, I fully support people that choose a vegan life style. The fact that there are people not buying meat keeps the price down for carnivores like me. Reminds me a of a t-shirt I saw once. The front said "I love animals" with pictures of cute little farm animals. The back said "because they taste good" with a picture of a burger. I loved it!!
Secondly, the existence of people that would allow themselves to be shrink-wrapped and left to bake in the sun confirms my belief that the biggest problem confronting society today is that humans have no predator to control the population of the moronic. A predator would solve so many of life's annoyances... like the people that ride escalators to the top and stand there confused while the people behind them fall over. Or people that drive at 5 mph on single lane roads as they try to figure out just where the hell they are. Or people that would allow themselves to be shrink-wrapped and left on the road as bait. Yep, I am more convinced than ever that we need a predator.

Wasn't it John Cleese who said "If god didn't want us to eat animals, he wouldn't have made them taste like meat!"? o_O

One of the commenters made the very good point that PETA would never allow a cow to be treated the way they treated their interns.
So much for "A boy is a dog . . . ."

The article says the intern did complain of physical discomfort and ask to be let up. I hope to hell they sue these annoying idiots for leaving her there another 30 minutes.
Just retarded. If I had overheard that, I'd have at least considered ripping the plastic off saying fuck them, get up you idiot and blasted that woman standing there for valuing animal life over human life, not to mention making Walmart's treatment of its employees look good by comparison.
Of course, that probably would have gotten me arrested even though they had to be in violation of some labor laws there. What the hell was wrong with the officers that they didn't say you can protest but you can't endanger someone's life like this?

Why has it never occurred to PETA that, if human beings are on a par with other animals (and I agree that we are, in many ways), then it is just as wrong to try to deny us our naturally omnivorous diet as it would be to try to deny the same to raccoons and bears?

I myself an an intern (at a software company) and I know the pressure to do things that you might not want to do, especially when you are young. When your job security is so insubstantial and you are new to the "real" workforce, sometimes older coworkers don't seem like peers and bosses remind you of teachers. And SOME were taught to blindly follow authority figures, such as their boss.
Most likely this was sold to them as a fight they SHOULD WANT to do, the whole guilt trip thing that PETA is so known for.
When I first started interning, I probably could have been convinced to do something like this, because I wasn't confident in my abilities or my job stability. Now I know better, but that came from experience. The boss should be ashamed of themselves (and given some sort of punishment for sheer stupidity and being inconsiderate). What's worse is that these interns won't be confident enough to see how badly they were treated for years and if they don't have a lot of self-esteem they might never realize that.

Looks like a couple of prime recruits for, oh, any old cult at all. With a few million non-thinkers like this I could get everyone to take off their shoes and abandon their shampoo at every airport in the country! Muwahahahaaa!
