Even while she's admitting that she's not allowed to say all that she wants to report, she's making a point. That first clip where they were criticizing her for not being more upbeat, good for her for standing her ground and saying I'm reporting the truth and the truth is what it is.
And the clip with Jon Stewart, man, the point she made about the troops feeling forgotten, well said. Of course, how could they not the way they're being treated -- both over there and when they return. Seriously, how the hell can we not supply body armour and have the VA hospitals in the shape they're in. How the hell can vets be denied benefits on bullshit excuses?

The first clip is interesting. The second clip is less so, because it seems to have been carefully edited. She doesn't say what's happening in Iraq now; she talks about what she's seen in the past.

All this will be considered quaint, if what Seymour Hirsch recently wrote is even remotely true. Seems the Bushmen, and the Big Dick in particular are stirring the pot.

"both over there and when they return. Seriously, how the hell can we not supply body armour and have the VA hospitals in the shape they're in."
Its body armor, not armour - we use ceramic and kevlar, not hams and sausages, for body armor. And in the US we spell it Armor.
What the troops are referring to is how the press ignores them and how some people back in the states treat them like crap.
For example:
A friend was verbally harassed Sunday while getting gas in his uniform and another got the same treatment in a grocery store two weeks ago. Neither man is now putting up with it and cussed the hecklers out.
I was harassed in the early 90s when I would go over to Berkely to do research in the Library. I got mean and agressive and I was left alone.
Has anyone here heard of Bellavia's hand to hand fight with a Hezbollah leader in a building in Fallujah?
I doubt it. He had to write a book to get the story out.
This site, like many others, has become so polluted by the the Bush Deragement Syndrome Zombies that its no longer pleasant to even read the comments.
I imagine that with Obama and the DNC hiring sock puppets, it will get even worse.

The problem with reporters like Ms. Logan is that they're not really reporters, are they? Rather, they're media personalities who view everything through their strongly biased personal political lens.
Her reporting clearly appeals to those who hate Bush and those who hate America but any reasonable person must question her journalistic integrity.
The moment that she changes her title to Editorial Pundit then my comments above are moot. Until then, I stand behind them. Forcefully.
Austin is exactly correct: the soldiers feel forgotten because the press only wants to report tragedies. "If it bleeds, it leads" was never more accurate.
Lara is a sanctimonious twit. "I feel responsible because no one else does". She SHOULD feel responsible; the war coverage has sucked since day 1. Never a word about the successes (and there are plenty) over there. No, please don't print a word about water pumps turning on, or schools and hospitals being built. That might reflect positively on the militay's efforts. Can't have that.
The military feels forgotten, but certainly not by the American people.
Sorry, Amy, but Logan's an ass. She's never thoughtfully "weighed the news value" of anything that didn't fit her agenda.

oh boo hoo. because she didn't say america isn't the greatest best nation god gave us on the face of the earth.
if we're talking about media and personality, I'd like more of what she has to offer: clear, concise, intelligent, thoughtful, quick yet critically thinking.

j.d. - she isn't paid to think. she's paid to report. and if she can't be bothered to report the whole story, then she ought to shut the fuck up and stop wasting airwaves. and it the so-called journalists can't be bothered to actually get off their fucking asses and GET the story, then they shouldn't be working either.
You want to see what reporting looks like? Check out Michael Yon or Michael Totten. To get around the spam filter, I won't post links, but just slap a www and a.com around their names (without spaces) to check out what REAL journalism is.
"J.D." offers a perfect example of what I alluded to: Someone who hates his own country and in the same breath, refers to Ms. Logan's reporting as "Intelligent, thoughtful, and [full of] critical thinking".
Of course, none of this is true but it's easier for him to praise her than to let his own internal biases be questions.
As a Canadian looking at the U.S. from afar, it's amusing to me how the same folks who so easily condemn Fox News refuse to use the same critical analysis of heavily biased journalism that fits in with their political views. Their kissin' cousins up here in Kanada always rave about our [dreadful] CBC News yet condemn everything else.
J.D. would be an excellent candidate for our "Human Rights" Kangaroo Courts!!
Robert Werner wrote: "...any reasonable person must question her journalistic integrity."
She stated she would like to visit more sites of reconstruction but is hampered by the increasing need for security. So security becomes the story she reports.
She clearly and without rhetoric states the targets for reconstruction are not being met.
Where is the evidence of her lack of journalistic integrity? Where did she say she's personally against Bush and that's the lens from which she reports? Or rather, are you assuming she has an agenda because her reports do not align with your views on the matter?
In this case Robert the onus is on you to prove your case, or state your agenda.

And Robert - just where do you get that j.d. "hates his own country?" I don't get that from the comments at all.
By your deliberate misspelling of your nation's name I think I could make the stronger case for the pot calling the kettle black.
BTW the Canadian Human Rights Commission refused to hear the case against Steyn and urged its provincial counterparts to do the same.
Happy Canada Day.

Brian: she is paid to think. Every journalist is. What you clearly prefer are those who do not think; the suggestible. your inability to think beyond rehearsed talking points is a concern of greater importance than who is wasting airwaves. Whatever that means. And if you listened to her points, she said she was limited to where she could go based on what the military was able to accomodate: it has nothing to do with her getting off her ass: she's clearly stated she wants to do so but her limitations are outside her control. That the content of a story is not worth anything unless one puts his or herself in the line of fire is rediculous. Yon and Totten are excellent reporters. But pointing that out is besides the point. Luckly, you are the authority on what REAL journalism is.
And I would be excellent for those kangaroo courts could I would dismiss all the claims as frivolous or erroneous. You're damn right I would be perfect. It's like putting Barry Goldwater on the SCOTUS. While you think you've 'dissed' me, I think there would be no better person to chair such kangaroo courts than a conservative like me. Too bad I'm not canadian.

j.d. - you could not hope to be more wrong about me.
I don't watch television news at all - it's all pablum. I don't read newspapers either, as they are either simply regurgitated AP talking points, or poorly written local interest crap.
The point here is that Ms. Logan could certainly get somewhere if she was willing to take on a little more personal risk. But most of the MSM reportage out of Iraq comes from inside the green zone, and therefore is mostly hearsay and propaganda.
And if you think any of the talking heads on ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, FOX, MSNBC, etc are hired for anything but their looks, you are mistaken.
Lara "Lushcakes" Logan? The girl who takes a bikini along on every trip? Things are sad when she's the reporter on the ground for this war.
She's limited by the security the Army can provide, true, but she's also limited by her lack of real journalistic ability. Christina Amanpour--please come back!

Kate may be onto something... Lara does look pretty intensely fuckable. Not that I trust every word that Candy Crowley tells me either... IJS, when a pretty girl gets on a TV show like that one and warbles about the death she's seen up close 'n personal, I'm not thereby convinced to trust her judgment in world affairs.
Did Stewart ask her, flat out, what was the best way for America to pursue its interests in a corrupt nation sitting atop the world's second best aggregation of light, sweet crude? I didn't watch the clips and can't say for sure, but I'd presume he didn't.
Friends, please, please, throw away your TV sets. I promise you won't miss them.
PS- The older I get, the more Candy Crowley seems like the sort who could give a guy a pretty good weekend at a Hyatt somewhere. Just sayin'.

Dude, she's not passing the smell test on this one. She has pefect teeth, for crying out loud.
