A Man Can't Get Pussy In Saudi Arabia
"This is not news," you're thinking. Actually, it's the other kind of pussy. Donna Abu-Nasr writes for the AP:
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia - Every single man knows: Walking a dog in the park is a sure babe magnet. Saudi Arabia's Islamic religious police, in their zeal to keep the sexes apart, want to make sure the technique doesn't catch on here. The solution: Ban selling dogs and cats as pets, as well as walking them in public. The prohibition went into effect Wednesday in the capital, Riyadh, and authorities in the city say they will strictly enforce it -- unlike previous bans in the cities of Mecca and Jiddah, which have been ignored and failed to stop pet sales.
Violators found outside with their pets will have their beloved poodles and other furry companions confiscated by agents of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, the official name of the religious police, tasked with enforcing Saudi Arabia's strict Islamic code.
The commission's general manager, Othman al-Othman, said the ban was ordered because of what he called "the rising of phenomenon of men using cats and dogs to make passes at women and pester families" as well as "violating proper behavior in public squares and malls."
"If a man is caught with a pet, the pet will be immediately confiscated and the man will be forced to sign a document pledging not to repeat the act," al-Othman told the Al-Hayat newspaper. "If he does, he will be referred to authorities." The ban does not address women.
Perhaps because, in Saudi Arabia, they have all the rights of a dog.
Thanks, Eric!

Picking on the kitties now? That's just evil!
Christ, this kind of thing does make you glad to be an American. My God is there anything these nutcakes won't insist on regulating?
To be Muslim, you obviously have to be a nonperson. I don't know how they stand it. You'd think there'd come a point where they'd riot. Instead they just seem to break all right -- into nutcakes who kill those infidels for daring to enjoy life.
May Allah strike them all dead.

"The ban does not address women." Right for the same reason that the dog/cat is not required to sign the letter promising that it will not be walked on a leash. They are both viewed in the same way with the same rights.

Not to compare America to Saudi Arabia, but we do have some ninnies here that want to ban specific breeds of dog, because the wrong sort of people prefer those breeds.
Can we send our nannies to Saudi Arabia?

I thought that Muslims didn't like dogs because they were "unclean" or some such nonsense? That's why they protested the Scotland police signs with the cute puppy on them. Am I remembering wrong? It seems that if Muslims in Scotland can't even hang a picture of a dog in their store window then Muslims in Saudi Arabia should not even own dogs at all.

I wouldn't feel so sorry for the poor, downtrodden Saudi women. These chicks are rolling in cash and basically keeping the multinational luxury goods companies in business. Of course, the situation is vastly different for their female slaves, on whose behalf I am outraged. I'm happy to see that these princes and princesses do get regularily arrested for various crimes in the West, however.

"I wouldn't feel so sorry for the poor, downtrodden Saudi women. These chicks are rolling in cash and basically keeping the multinational luxury goods companies in business." Your talking about the top fraction of 1 percent of the women in that country.

Actually, afaik the Muslims didn't protest at all. It was some officious "diversity officer" in the police who protested for them. Net result is of course that the Muslims get the blame.

"Your talking about the top fraction of 1 percent of the women in that country." Are you sure, Vlad? Maybe I am wrong, but it is my understanding that people with Saudi citizenship don't work. They import, and sometimes enslave, their labor. I have never met a Saudi who was not a "student" or a shopper.
Although, indeed, there are plenty of women from all over the world in Saudi who need our concern. The non-citizens. Dig?

"I have never met a Saudi who was not a "student" or a shopper." I haven't met any of them outside the US but all the ones I met here were from the very wealthy class. They had parents from the oil industry or construction. You get very few of the lower class in the US as they can not afford the plane ride here.
I agree the non-citizens have a worse lot than the citizens, doesn't mean the poor citizens are not actually screwed.
This is all speculation as they try to be damn secretive of what's actually going on.
