Personally, I think that if the U.S. is going to play the world's policemen, we should be addressing these things. What makes this so annoying to me is that the we consider it our right, even our obligation, to get ourselves entangled in everything.
If we're going to police the world, and I don't think we should, then we shouldn't allow atrocities like this.
If we're going to be a cop, then let's do it right. These animals can join the 21st century voluntarily or be forced.

This actually made me tear up. This is just wrong. It makes me want to throttle the dumb bitch I used to be friends with (who I am no longer friends with because I told her feminism was bullshit and Islam was barbaric, and she just couldn't take THAT!) I wish I had a way to show her this video and ask her whether she still thinks she can be tolerant (actually, more along the lines of admiring, for her, *puke*) of Islam and still consider herself a feminist.
I wish the men standing around were real men and intervened. A guy doing that to a woman wouldn't stay alive for 10 minutes in a civilized country.

Yeah, luj, she has me blocked on facebook. I guess she thinks I'll harrass her or some dumb bullshit. I would never do that, but I think it speaks volumes about how out of proportion she makes things out to be. She's a *feminist* though, so she'll pretend to be a victim even when there is no basis in reality.

So, feminists, want to tell us agin how you are oppresesed and middle eastern muslim women are liberated?
By the way, her crime was wearing pants. I didn't see that mentioned on the accompanying link.

"A guy doing that to a woman wouldn't stay alive for 10 minutes in a civilized country"
A guy could do that to his wife in America when my mom was a kid. It was legal and socially acceptable to beat your wife back in the 1950's. You could also beat your kids, too.

@12:40 PM, you are exaggerating a tad, aren't you? My parents were *adults* in the 1950s and I've never heard of anyone, wife of child, beaten and willingly humiliated in a public place back then for petty reasons with the implicit consent of male passers-by because it be "socially accepted", anywhere in North America or Europe and probably at other civilized places, too. Don't make up stuff like that or document your statement.

jeebus the idiot posts lately. It has never been acceptable to beat a woman in private or in public in the west. Kids however are another story

You guys are so intolerant. Don't you know diversity when you see it? We should bring people like this into the U.S.

Too bad she wasn't packing some heat.
Whip vs. .45 = .45 wins.
Those guys doing the beating have probably very thoroughly convinced themselves that they are doing what they do to keep order, obey Allah, or some defensible reason. Truth is, they do it because they like it.

If only this would be carried on the major broadcast stations. That will never happen because it would disagree the image of Peaceful Islamic adherents all over the world.

BTW -- Here's the longer version explaining that she was a journalist and was being beaten for Public Indecency for wearing pants.

Wearing pants?
The normal dress for Palestinian women is a tunic and pants. This is how girls go to school here.
It can be jeans, or sweatpants/trainers, or palazzo-pants type of thing that matches the tunic.
... sounds like an instant stringency used to break up a women's rights march.
