The Palestinian Lie And Useful Idiots For Palestine
Pat Condell on how the Muslims want the Jews dead, don't want a state of their own but want the Jewish state obliterated:
Note that Muslims have more rights in Israel than they do in any Arab country.
"It's not about Israelis; it's about Jews."
"Death to Jews. That's what you support when you support the Palestinians."
"What you're actually doing is supporting an Islamic war against Jews."
Amy, again, go there. You pride yourself on doing good research, but you are uneducated on this issue.
NicoleK at November 6, 2011 12:52 AM
So what is Amy uneducated in that requires her to visit? (Personally I am concerned with advice that encourages a non Muslim -- and female -- to visit most arab countries)
- Do every day Arabs have more freedoms in an Arab country then in Israel?
- Do many Palestinians not support the destruction of Israel and death to Jews?
- Is an officially recognized terrorist organization not the popularly chosen group to lead the Palestinians?
- Are human rights, ahem, abundant? (they are rabidly against one's simple exercise of free speech putting oneself not in mortal danger?)
- They are looking to establish a peaceful cohabitation with their non Muslim neighbors nearby and throughout the world?
As I have not visited either, I am dying to be educated on the subject (especially, if I visited, I could be in danger of dying if I was to say out loud what I just wrote)
TW at November 6, 2011 2:15 AM
Nicole,
Where is Amy wrong on this? Or an even better question: Where is Pat Condell wrong?
Israel has given up many things over the years just wanting peace. Have they had peace for any length of time?
Israel has been shelled and had rocket attacks happen daily. The western media only put it on the front page and 6:00 news once Israel started blowing the shit out of the "harmless" Palestinians.
Israel and Egypt ran a joint blockade to stop the shipment of weapons into Palestine. You just had to pull into a port, or be boarded, and have the cargo inspected by either side. What happened when someone tried to run the blockade? Israel was slammed for firing upon "harmless" crewmen who were brandishing clubs and other weapons.
If you look at the real information whenever there is a slam on Israel, not the pablum pushed by the major media, the scales will fall from your eyes.
Jim P. at November 6, 2011 3:49 AM
There's an old but somewhat morbid joke
"Israel could destroy Palestine but won't. Palestine would destroy Israel but can't".
God help us if they ever really take the gloves off. Anyone who thinks that Israel are oppressors who don't care about Palestinian lives needs their head read.
I don't know what education I need other than to imagine just how many Jewish citizens will be allowed in a Palestinian state, vs the million or so Arab citizens in Israel. Anyone want to guess at a non-zero number?

Really, the truth is right there in the line about the Israelis laying down their arms. If the Palestinians lay down their arms, there will be peace. If the Israelis do, there will be a massacre.
The Muslims hate Jews and it is in their religious literature that they must kill them. They supported the Holocaust. Who supports the genocide of another people? Sick.

Muslim charity, not surprisingly, is not to be given to Christian or Jewish infidels, while Christians and Jews both support charities that simply give to the poor. My friend Tom, for example, is one of a group of wealthy Christian men funding help for the homeless downtown. They do this as part of their "Christian duty," he told me, and to be fed, clothed, and housed by their charity, you need only be poor and homeless, not Christian.

And the dirty little secret is, Muslims on average don't treat each other much better. There's at least a dozen variants of Islam all convinced that they are the absolute 100% correct version, and that all others are dangerous apostates who need to be wiped out. Last I checked, we didn't have Presbyterians and Methodists declaring war on each other. And, it's a religion that is really all about its elites -- the average Joe Muslim gets almost no respect from the leadership. The restrictions placed on ordinary Muslims by the religion make Pentecostals look like libertines.

How am I wussy for accepting reality and fact?
Present me with a fact, not an idea, that counters my position and I have to take it into consideration.
No matter that any religion is irrational -- most religions have grown over the years to at least been be reflect reality. One religion has not.

Because you write like a girl! The ethos of your dialectic is doctrinaire, sublating contrarian abstractions far too symmetrically.

People who think "claims that there is a god are outrageous" might be taking their personal hypermodern fabyoo-litude a little too seriously.
Supernatural spirituality is wrong? OK. Got it.
But "outrageous"?... When the whole of humanity has known essentially nothing else?
This outrage comes too easily.

I distinctly remember holding a phone meeting and the guys in Israel where in the a bomb shelter...and thought nothing of it. The guy who called the meeting asked,"Are you sure you are OK? We could hold it another time?" The head Israeli responded, "Yeah sure. Why not? We'll have to avoid certain topics because people might over hear but we need to make progress." And so the meeting was held as normal. At the time it just so out there to me -- having to go to a bomb shelter and it happens often enough that it is not even note worthy to you.

Former Banker:
Yep.
I work in Israeli hi-tech - it is very important here to show customers that the show will go on, and give them the confidence to continue to invest in Israel.
Visiting coworkers from overseas are amazed to see that Tel-Aviv and most of the country are not bombed-out war zones, but bustling modern cities.
One fellow - a petulant European - asked why there were no post boxes in the streets, and few trash cans. Israelis explained, "We used to have them, but they started blowing up - so they were removed."
That's when the penny dropped - and he realized that every square inch of normal, civilized Tel Aviv, down to the latte he was sipping, was the result of a protracted struggle against thuggery and barbarism.

All right, specifically: I don't think Nic needs lessons in how persuasion works. Besides, this is one of the biggest and oldest problems on the globe... Were you really gonna knock it down this weekend.
Crid [CridComment at gmail] at November 6, 2011 9:48 PM
I meant to get to it over the weekend but I had parties to go to.
Seriously though, I don't think it's one of the biggest problems in the world. One of the oldest I'll give you. Perhaps one of the hardest to solve, although I don't really believe that. There's worse out there.
Ltw at November 6, 2011 10:47 PM
> I don't think it's one of the biggest problems
> in the world.
You may actually right, but I think it exemplifies one of the biggest problems in human nature (from the non-sexual side of ledger): That uneducated, naive cultures (which are, let's remember, the mode of human society) can be readily and pathetically distracted from corrected their weaknesses through appeals to racism and small-mindedness.
Meanwhile, Israel is not going to end well, and it's collapse will involve a lot of people who'd rather be giving their lives to other projects. And for little.
Crid [CridComment at gmail] at November 7, 2011 8:59 AM

Crid [CridComment at gmail] at November 7, 2011 9:09 AM
You have a point Crid, barbarism is the natural state for humans. From that point of view, the Palestine problem is an important example.
I suspect she didn't come back because two cynical bastards agreeing were a bit too formidable and not worth arguing with. Or maybe she had said all she wanted to say. One or the other.
