Breaking News: Amy Leaves Computer For Six Hours
Photo by Gregg Sutter, who called this my "millisecond sunbath."
The book I'm carrying in the photo went to Access Books, a terrific organization that provides books to inner-city schools in the LA area.
Miss Alkon, you're all bundled up! It must have been, what, a frigid 70 degrees out?
Looking at the Access Books link, it's nice to see that people still want to read E.B. White and Beverly Cleary. As for donating children's and other books in other regions of the country, a quick web search should turn up something useful -- Googling the phrase "book donation dc" turned up the Books for America site:
http://www.booksforamerica.org/
I'd guess most parts of the country would have similar organizations.

Gregg was laughing that I had a jacket and a vest on. I get cold.

Current temperature here (NoVA) is 36 degrees, but what a beautiful, clear day it is! Supposed to break 60 degrees tomorrow, and sunny, too.
Not Southern California, to be sure, but it ain't Minnesota, either.

Skirt, $9.99 Donna Karan on eBay which I let out with a seam ripper, Cornejo Richmond jacket was $19 on eBay but they'd shortened the arms and not mentioned it so the seller refunded a bit of that (I let the arms out with a seam ripper, too, left unhemmed), and Shelly Segal vest was $2 at Salvation Army, as was the scarf. Boots, which you can't see, were $19 on sale at Great Labels. (Purse, present from Gregg [Overstock.com sale item I picked out, $99], and glasses, $9.99 at the beach, with prescription lenses put in at Eyeglass Direct for $42, plus $4.95 shipping.)

Amy Alkon, catchin' some D's, takin' a sun bath, walkin' on sunshine.
Old RPM Daddy, where you at? I'm a NoVa guy too (Sterling).

BlogDog -- Beautiful Prince William County (an oxymoron, I know, but hey, I grew up in Ohio, so gimme a break)!

Thanks for reminding me what sunshine looks like. We see it so rarely this time of year in Ohio...

Good for you to get outside, Amy! My doctor recently chastised me [politely] for not getting away from my computer. It's beyond healthy to take regular breaks outside of our 4 walls!

You loook Mahvelous!

Direct sunlight Amy? And you didn't burst into flames?
Savant-Idiot at January 30, 2012 5:16 PM
Wow, I wondered what that bright flash in the west was today. Are you toast now?
Cousin Dave at January 30, 2012 6:22 PM
Are you sure aren't an albino? I'm just joking. You definitely need more Vitamin D. ;-)
