I remember once where Hilary Clinton called George W. Bush something like "the greatest threat to women's rights on the planet."

While I certainly do not think Bush was a good president, anyone, especially a feminist leader, who would say something like that has obviously never experienced or witnessed real oppression.

After all, you can count how many Muslim* countries are pleasant places for women on your own fingers--provided you haven't had any chopped off for suspected petty shoplifting.

*Yes in know not all muslims are that way, and i personally know many kind muslims, yada yada yada. Completely accurate, and completely irrelevant, to the problem.

There's a political angle to this story that's not covered in the article. The Islamic Books & Souvenirs store is in the Toronto Centre riding, which is represented in Parliament by Bob Rae, leader of the federal Liberal Party & would-be Prime Minister. When Eric Brazau (the guy in the picture) brought this book to the attention of Bob Rae's office, he was dismissed by a spokesman and told that it's just a religious text, the Bible's just as bad, etc. So there you go - beating your wife with a stick and pulling her by the ears is all just part of the rich tapestry of multiculturalism up here!
