The Bright Bank
Parisian girls often show how they're beyond seeking protection in head-to-toe black like we Americans (this American included, although, as I type this in my favorite coffee shop, I am wearing a red shrug with my long black formal mermaid skirt, black shirt and black boots):

There's gotta be a comic book hero with that scheme. Superpower: Baguettes and teentsy coffees.
Or are there pro sports in France? Is the France Basketball Championship underway?

Well there's Football... Soccer that is.

As an American gal who has lived in 2 major East Coast cities, I must say I have never gotten the all black look. I only own about 6 black items of clothing - a dressy tank, a dressy T, a long sleeve, a sweater and a jacket. These are always paired with bright colors, never other black.
Also, I always assumed it was for women trying to look thiner, which the Goddess clearly has no difficulty with!

Green Bay Packers Cheerleader, European Division (those leggings could be mighty handy at Lambeau Field in December)!

I suspect ease of coordinating and her magnificent hair being highlighted by the contrast have something to do with Amy's fondness for a black wardrobe. :-) It doesn't work for me, I have one black dress bought under pressure in a group setting. I like me some color...though yellow is never part of it. Fits the girl in the picture well though.

Well I have a tendency to think the SuperPower Girl, it might be that she was next to some highlighters that blew up. ;-)

I just spewed coffee all over my monitor. Hahahahah!

I can pull off yellow, I never would ahev thought so with dark hair and pale skin. The best investment in her looks ANY woman can make, is having her colors done. There are colors I can wear that make me need no make-up whatsoever. It's amazing the difference it can make.
The second best thing a woman can do is systematically try on everything in her closet and take a pic of herself wearing it. See how it looks in the pic. If not great on you, toss it. I am in the middle of this. I started because I just printed out a TON of pics from my camera, and noticed that some days on a vacation I looked slim and great, and some days I looked awful. Within a 3 day span, the only difference could be the cut of the clothes I was wearing.
And I'm finding the more fitted, actual-waist having pieces, are the best. Go Amy for telling us that all along!

I knew a German guy, and he was "The Man in Black". His wife also dressed in black most of the time. It makes your wardrobe choices easier...
As for the subject of the picture, she strikes as being able to wear sackcloth and ashes and make it look good...

Darth made me remember a business trip I made to Germany almost twenty years ago. One weekday afternoon, after walking around for a while, my co-worker and I sat on a bench and did some people watching. The number of Germans we saw dressed all in black and leather was astonishing. And NONE of them smiled and looked very dour. (I still wonder how typical this was.)
(I should add that the hotel was the nicest I've ever stayed at and the food was unbelievably good.)

Whether I wear black or not depends on where I'm going and what time of year it is. Going to New York City, on the train, I'm usually in either black leather jacket with black knee-high boots and a dress of blue, purple or green, or light blue jeans with a tie-dyed, fitted T. Depending on the occasion, of course. If it's a concert, jeans. If something else, like an exibit or play or something, I'll wear a dress or skirt and a top. When we went to see "Hair", I wore a long black skirt with a short-sleeve navy blue shirt that had peace signs of various colors all over it. Yes, yes, I know. I'm just an old hippie.

Remember the "Sprockets" bit on SNL w/ Dieter?

I remember a killer parody of "Mummenschantz" on Letterman that was so tight that didn't even realize they were making fun of a real performance troup. Well, sure, I can imagine pretentious German pantomime being that stupid....
