Life In Muslim Countries In 2012: Muslim Man Accidentally Beats The Wrong Woman
A Jordanian man thought his wife was shopping in a mall without permission.
Islam allows and even encourages wife beating -- so he ran up and slapped her.
Oops. Seems she was another man's possession -- he slapped the wrong woman.
From Emirates24/7:
The woman began screaming for help.Soon, however, there was pin-drop silence in the mall when the man realised the woman was not his wife.
She was a close look-alike though.
Don't you hate that, when you give the wrong woman a beating?
I guess it beats a beheading. Or being shot for "adultery."

I'm sure when he caught up with his wife, she got a beating for too closely resembling the other woman and for making him think that she was out in the mall in the first place.
On a more semi-serious note, shouldn't the husband of the woman who was beaten in a case of mistaken identity be entitled to some sort of retribution or compensation. I'm referring of course, to the standards of their backwater barbarian countries, not the U.S.
In the U.S., of course, the woman would (or should) be filing a charge on her own behalf.

That's not a barbaric or backwater notion, to be recompensed for damage to one's property. Actually, we have the same notion.
It's just that we no longer classify people as property.
Remember that the next time you hear some yutz say there's no difference between Islam and Christianity or Judaism. The latter two don't consider women to be chattel.

I was referring to the viewing of women as property as the "backwater barbarian." That's why I pointed out that in the United States she would file suit on her own behalf and probably win.
Of course being compensated for damage to one's property is not "backwater barbarian." Viewing human beings as property most certainly is.
As for Christianity not considering women as chattel, who says? A look at the history of our own "Christian" nation would tell you otherwise.
Patrick at July 12, 2012 9:44 AM
Well, they all look alike.
;-)

What happens to women there happens to men here. Neither is excusable.
Jay R at July 12, 2012 10:44 AM
Patrick, those same Christians you so obviously despise were instrumental in changing the idea that people were property in this country. So maybe YOU should take another look at the history of our own "Christian nation", you tool.

'Or being shot for "adultery."'
Off-topic, but that seems only slightly more barbaric to me than having a cultural norm whereby a young woman who hasn't harmed anyone but is suspected of (gasp, shock) accepting money for sex, is encouraged to be threatened and arrested at gunpoint and manhandled by a large armed gang in order to be forced into a small cage and locked up (and if she resists, shoot her).
"I'm referring of course, to the standards of their backwater barbarian countries, not the U.S."
Sure, no comparable barbarism in the US, or at least, somehow we choose not to see it. To be clear, I don't believe in the notion that in order to tackle the barbarism in other countries one must first tackle one's own .. I think all immoral barbarism should be open game to be tackled by anyone in any country, always. But I think hypocritical "us [noble] vs them [barbaric]" generalizations can be counterproductive as it puts people on the defensive.

"What happens to women there happens to men here."
Yeah, just last week here in FL I attended a stoning of a man who had been accused of adultery after he was raped. And I can't speak for the rest of the country, but here in Orlando it's not at all unusual to throw acid on the faces or down the throats of men who are too modern.
-----
Seriously? Yes, it sucks that DV against guys is under-reported. And it is awful that guys being raped is treated like a joke. But seriously - did you have a logic slip there or do you actually believe that men in western nations have things just as bad as women in Islamic nations? Hell, men here don't even have it as bad as the men in Islamic countries do.
Elle at July 12, 2012 11:56 AM
If she's covered from head to toe with veil, how can he be sure the woman is his wife?

Perfectly put, Elle.
I'm for fair treatment of men in this country, and blog with some frequency on injustices against men, but come on, Jay R.
Elle is exactly right.
What happened, oil spill on the floor in the logic department?

So what happened? I mean, I'd be annoyed if someone kicked my car or threw stones at it or other property, even if they missed. I'd want some retribution. What'd the other lady's husband/father get?
NicoleK at July 12, 2012 2:32 PM
Yeah, just last week here in FL I attended a stoning of a man who had been accused of adultery after he was raped.
And young men are beaten and killed by their parents for having sex before marriage ALL THE TIME.

Wow. I am so grateful to live in a country where you can see women's faces. Besides the fact that I like to see women's faces, especially when they're smiling, I can honestly say that I have never, ever slapped another man's wife by mistake.

I always ask for permission first.
Jay R, you've already been told you're a dickhead. What they said.

It definitely beats being bludgeoned with a bottle by a woman and the woman walking free.

I don't love islam, but it is definitely preferable to american and british sharia
Redrajesh at July 13, 2012 9:52 AM
Jay is right when he says that what happens to women happens to men also. Men are beheaded for adultery. I know a guy who was executed because he was having sex with a woman and the woman's dad caught them in the act. Now it also happened that the guy was egyptian while the woman was saudi and her dad was rich. The guy was accused of rape and executed. Nothing happened to the woman.

The article refers to a man slapping a woman -- not a stoning.
But, let's take a look at the situation:
Here, women slap men with virtual impunity. A man who slaps a woman, even in self defense, goes to jail.
Men's penises are cut off and the women who did it have television studios full of other women cheer them and mock the mutilated man, who always seems to have "deserved it."
They make a joke out of prison rape and women's statutory rape of boys.
They shoot sleeping men with a shotgun and get a slap on the wrist -- because they were forced to wear "slutty" shoes.
They not long ago happily instigated lynchings if the "wrong" boy whistled at them, and still have little trouble instigating proxy violence on men with false allegations.
Baby boys are routinely mutilated so that later a woman won't have to look at an "ugly" penis, while those who molest a girl's genital integrity go to jail.
Here, men can be compelled to give their very lives to the service of the nation in exchange for their rights. Women are under no obligation whatsoever, and risk nothing in exchange for their rights. Do you think war-hawk Hillary would have any compunction about ordering men into battle as commander in chief even though her precious female fanny was never on the line?
Etc., etc., etc. ...
So, a little less sputtering, outraged indignation in response to my comment would be in order, don't you think?
(I would have used the word "hysterical," but that might come off as sexist, heaven forbid.)

You ARE coming off as hysterical and this is not a blog on which to be all prissy about saying anything, and you know that full-well. It just suits your "waaah, waaaah, the USA is just like Afghanistan," which is about on par with people who compare other people (who are not throwing Jews, gypsies and homosexuals in ovens) with Hitler.
I am very much for men's rights and blog about paternity fraud and other abuses of men and appear on Dr. Helen's show to discuss men's rights. I likewise do not call myself a feminist because I am for fair treatment of all people, and not for special treatment for people with vaginas.
There are many abuses of people's rights in this country, but the difference is, we have laws and a justice system and there are often ways to act correctively about these violations.
Oh, and lots of people joke about lots of things. People who get irate over comedy are ridiculous.

No more than war-hawk Romney would allow any of his five boys to sign up for military service. He didn't. They haven't.
As to the gender question -- consider Barbara Bush, Condoleeza Rice, Michelle Bachmann, Sarah Palin -- you don't believe they'd hesitate for a second, do you?

Uh, re men dying over adultery or spousal arguments here in the USA, folks ought to look up the Clara Harris case in Texas (ran over her husband with step daughter in car) and Mary Winkler.

How did I know Redjadresh would chime in?
Both you guys (red and jay r) need to start acting like one. Have I been slapped by a woman? Yes. Did I whine like a ten year old? No, I said that wasn't fucking acceptable.
Apparently that wasn't, you know, illegal like it would have been if this woman had actually been his wife.
You're the male equivalent of extreme feminism - everything bad that ever happened is because of the matriarchy.
Ltw at July 14, 2012 12:09 AM
"You can't appeal a decision if you've been beheaded"
You can't appeal a decision if you've been shot dead with a shotgun either. And when people who care about you appeal and it results in the sentence becoming lighter, it just shows that the appeals process is a sham.
"Sometimes, justice is not done in this country or the UK" - what is sometimes? 99%?
"Did I whine like a ten year old" - ok you did not whine like a 10 year old. But did that solve your problem or that of men in general? And if it is not ok for us to whine like 10 year olds, why is this woman who was slapped by some guy whining like a 10 year old and why is the media going all gaga over it? Why is it fine for women to whine like 10 year olds while it is not fine for men to do that? Maybe the victim tactic works better than your saying it is not acceptable tactic. I am open to use any tactic as long as it works. Besides, if there is a better tactic than whining, how come the feminazis never seem to use it?
