Marc Randazza: How To Defeat Terrorism
Wise words from Marc J. Randazza, the First Amendment lawyer who came to my rescue and wiped the floor with the TSA worker and her lawyer (when they demanded $500K from me because I dared use my First Amendment rights to complain about the violation of my Fourth Amendment rights as well as my private parts).
Randazza on what we can do -- on a personal level, each of us:
You know how you defeat "terrorism"? You refuse to be "terrorized," and it turns "terrorism" into simple "crime."Be empathetic. Be angry. But don't be afraid.

Excellent point raised by Randazza. It brings to mind an article I had read about this being "National Terror Week" if you will. It marks the anniversary of Columbine, Virginia Tech, Waco, and the Oklahoma City Bombing. (Although OKC was planned to fall on the Waco anniversary.)

Very apt sentiment. If you let yourself succumb to the worry that it could happen to you, the terrorists have won.

So how do you show that you are not afraid? By carrying on as usual with no changes and no counter measures at all? I think there is a difference between bravado and stupidity.
Note: I am not saying that TSA is doing a good job. But this one line is just oversimplification of everything. The best thing I can think of is random bombs in islamic countries so those guys are equally afraid of bombs and spend their resources to defend themselves rather than attack others. And a total ban on islam and anything islamic in USA. That includes demolition of all mosques and telling muslims to convert to anything else and deportation of those who do not. And probably putting all the muslim leaders in USA behind bars.

The question is what would have stopped the bombing?
Essentially there is nothing that could be done that would be Constitutional. And I'd rather die by being somewhere unfortunately than because I had to pass through a TSA checkpoint.

"The question is what would have stopped the bombing?"
In the short term, the only thing that really works is intel and plain old police work -- find out what's going on before it happens, and stop it. Unfortunately, that's not going to work every time. And there are Constitutional dangers there as well, although I think they are resolvable, unlike the mass-search philosophy that prevails in Washington today.
In the long run, the answer is to convince the world that radical Islam is a losing proposition, and that the modern Western way is a better way to live. In order for that to work, though, we have to have a government and populace that is willing to stand up for Western civilization, and right now we don't have that.

And I forgot one thing: border control.

"we have to have a government and populace that is willing to stand up for Western civilization"
There are 3 things about western civilization that make it difficult to defend
a) feminism
b) feminism
c) feminism
If feminism is removed, then western civilization becomes much easier to defend and becomes much more acceptable worldwide compared to what it is now.
