Twitter abuse from feminists - punishment for disagreeing
Susie O’Brien
I’ve also realized how true it is that Facebook is for liking and Twitter is for hating.
On Tuesday in this paper I wrote a column about Daisy Coleman, an American teenager who was raped after passing out drunk at a party.
I argued that we have a responsibility to educate our girls about the statistical link between sexual assault and alcohol.
Obviously rape is rape, and the rapist is the criminal, but it is not smart to be pass-out drunk around a rapist.
It’s just commonsense. It’s not about blaming the victim, or letting the rapist off the hook. It’s about helping our girls keep themselves safe and in control.
I made sure that I noted that we also need to educate boys and men.
But it didn’t take long before the abuse started from those who disagreed with me....
Your friend Dr Helen thinks Yoga is great for stress relief. She has some scientific reasons for it, but knowing how you are about things that are not fully scientifically proven and work in less than 99.9% of cases(like say they work in 70% of cases), now I think she is your candidate for people who fall for unscientific, quackery stuff. In fact, that is what I put in her comments section.
"I’ll continue to tell my son to respect women, and my daughter to respect herself – and watch what she drinks."
Wtf...why the hell should men respect women and women only respect themselves? Should the daughter also not be taught to respect men...there is so much misandric bias here...in fact in the whole thing there is so much feminist misandric bias....and once again, the whole women as stupid thing...we need to teach our daughters not to get drunk at a party....are your daughters so stupid that they need to be taught that especially with a news article or once again school lectures and college lectures etc. And if women can be excused for being this stupid, then why the hell should men also not be held to the same low standard...why the hell should they alone take care of themselves all the time with no awareness sessions and news articles and school and college lectures? Why are men denied the facilities which everyone thinks should be extended to women?

Actually, if you'll read above more closely, *I* -- Amy Alkon -- linked to the piece on Twitter.
And it's from a Psychology Today blog item by the excellent Emily Deans, a psychiatrist I respect (and have quoted in my science-based love advice column) for her evidence-based approach to both diet and psychological issues.
In fact, Emily Deans and I were corresponding this weekend about the absolute shit data on "mindfulness" meditation. Much of the data is utter crap. But not all of it, and there is evidence that this works to alleviate anxiety. Researcher Sian Beilock has a post on this at Psych Today in respect to avoiding performance-based choking through "mindfulness" meditation. (Yoga is part of that program.)
Here's the program and some of the research links. Kabat-Zinn is the guy who's done some of this work, and Davidson and he have done some papers together on this. (Can't remember Davidson's first name, and I'm on deadline, must get back to work.)
