I’ve also realized how true it is that Facebook is for liking and Twitter is for hating.

On Tuesday in this paper I wrote a column about Daisy Coleman, an American teenager who was raped after passing out drunk at a party.

I argued that we have a responsibility to educate our girls about the statistical link between sexual assault and alcohol.

Obviously rape is rape, and the rapist is the criminal, but it is not smart to be pass-out drunk around a rapist.

It’s just commonsense. It’s not about blaming the victim, or letting the rapist off the hook. It’s about helping our girls keep themselves safe and in control.

I made sure that I noted that we also need to educate boys and men.

But it didn’t take long before the abuse started from those who disagreed with me....

I'd never heard of the guy until college. I thought "Walk on the Wild Side" sounded like a Dire Straits tune until a suitemate started playing his records in the dorm, Sadly, Lou Reed has died. He was 71.
