I've talked about this piece of music before. It looks like this, hence its name. My favorite arrangement sounds like this (listen, don't watch).

That tune took up space in my spirit that others gave to "How Deep is Your Love" or "Hotel California." When a work of art arrives at the right moment of a young life, it'll always summon feelings of warmth difficult to explain to others, no matter how many perspectives are available: Here's the piece's first champion, the man for whom it was written, slowing down enough for us to peek under the hood as it goes by. And here's its composer, performing it on a computer.

So like, whatever, right? Sentimental old men, big whoop. It was forty year ago. Nobody should pretend the silly trinkets of their childhood were especially shiny. What would remind me to listen carefully to the piece today?
A beautiful young woman, of course.
(The drum fills from the Hotel would probably have been easier for her, but....)

You guys would be linking to a web site that's blocked at my office! Now I'll have to remember to look these up this afternoon when I get home.

Wow, Old RPM Daddy, your work blocks Frank Zappa? That's sad...
I miss the guy. Who knows what he'd be composing now if he hadn't passed away a few years ago.
Yesterday was what, Crid, 7 or 8 years now? I forget.

I'm getting this for my cousin. Because I love her.
hehehehehee!

Wow, I was WAY off. He passed on December 4, 1993. Twenty years gone. Doesn't seem possible!
R.I.P. Mr. Z. You were one of the GREATS.

Where I work, they block damn near everything, even a lot of work-related sites. I'm surprised every day that I'm still able to access here from work. I suspect it won't be much longer.

Yeah, no YouTube, no Facebook. Some blocks I can understand (well, I am on company time right now), others are kind of puzzling. But I still have the Advice Goddess.
Old RPM Daddy (OldRPMDaddy at GMail dot com) at December 5, 2013 7:13 AM
Old RPM Daddy - Yea, I can see blocking facebook and, even sometimes, YouTube. Although, I have done training videos for clients that we load onto Youtube and those are work related; so, sometimes Youtube can be useful for work.
But, Advice Goddess should never be blocked! Never.
Even if one of her postings might not seem work-related smart people can take her advice and apply it to work. For example, the recent post on helicopter parenting - I can read that as "Hey, managers, don't be helicopter managers!" Or it can be great advice on what managers might be facing with some of their younger staff. There, that's work related! (seriously, it is) And, therefore, should not be blocked.
I hope your work place doesn't block Amy's wisdom!

> one of the GREATS.
His faults were not small, but his virtues were tremendous and scary.
Here's Terry talking about the BP (after describing his audition, one of my favorite stories from all of showbiz.)
Steve's story is good, too.
I once dated a woman who auditioned for him, and you could tell the experience had rattled her. When the topic was music, I learned to mumble things about Weather Report and the Stones.
