A Woman’s Nation Pushes Back from the Brink will examine the rates of financial insecurity among American women and the children who depend on them, investigate the impact of it on our nation’s institutions and economic future, and promote modern solutions to help women strengthen their financial status.
It's basically a kindle book that is free up until I guess midnight tonight, and then $7 from then on.
There's not a whole lot that's new in it, and there are many things in it that seem reasonable if not arguable and then there is the stuff that's not.
Over all it's a rehash of tons of stuff I've read in the past, a huge feminist messaging about putting women first, and what's good for women is good for America, and some obligatory male bashing.
I'd say reading level is about grade 7, so it's an easy read, and bundled the way it is, there is a good chance it will be read for years, which possibly is what makes it important.
Not much real data or analysis in it, the usual complaint that women make 77 cents for every $1 a man makes, and then a variety of ways to fix that including:
+ make it illegal for employers to retaliate if employees discuss salaries
+ make employers report various demographics and pay and job information to make sure equal jobs are paid equal amounts if all else is equal (that is if shipping foreman is the same as shipping administrator in terms of duties and requirements they should pay the same) and the titles are not given out based on gender
And then there are various forms of aid to mothers to make sure the kids are fed and that after a parental leave mom can jump back into her job.
Anyway, there are a variety of ways to support portions of it, and heavily critique other parts of it. And I don't know how important it will turn out to be, but hey, there it is, and free for the remainder of the evening.

That statistic is manufactured by capping the discussion of 'full time' work hours at 36 a week and overly broad categories
If I told you a story of two doctors where the man made twice as much would you think it was sexist?
What if the man was a surgeon working 70hrs a week and the woman was a podiatrist working 37?
Teehee…

The vomit was an especially deft detail.
I haven't laughed that hard at an internet clip in years. Not long laughter, but deep.
