48 Hours in Brunei: The Hollywood Reporter Infiltrates the Underground Gay Scene
Patrick Brzeski has written a very interesting piece for THR on the situation for gays in Brunei after the Sultan announced Brunei's stone-the-gays law.
Sad how gays and others in Brunei buy into Islam's views on homosexuality and/or shrug off the disgusting dictate about the possibility of gays being stoned:
Despite being minority Christian, her views closely align with many Bruneians I've spoken with: She loves her sultan and feels bad he's being criticized; the new law isn't so terrible; and provided gays keep their "situation" private, nobody will get stoned.

Homosexuals have been beheaded, hung and stoned in modern Saudi Arabia and Iran, where Muhammad's laws are applied most strictly. Five other Muslim countries also have the death penalty on their books for homosexual behavior. In the past, gays were burned as well. As one cleric recently put it, the only point of theological debate is over how the offender should be killed.
There is an exception:
In 2012, a cleric issues a fatwa endorsing sodomy as a means of widening the anus in order to pack it with enough explosives to kill bystanders in a suicide bombing. As Sheikh Abu al-Dema al-Qasab put it, "Jihad comes first, for it is the pinnacle of Islam, and if the pinnacle of Islam can only be achieved through sodomy, then there is no wrong in it."
I can see the bumper sticker: "Sorry, I'm saving my ass for Islam."
Step one: Shoot your sister, the bride.

Step three: Throw the sack in the river.
And that's how you maintain family honor in Pakistan.

I love that. I love it fifteen ways to Heaven.
This is exactly what Hollywood liberalism should be doing; observing and recording the conditions of minorities (and women, gays, the disabled) in the opaque world cultures who participate financially in the showbiz money machine so shamelessly.
Bravo.
I wonder how Hollywood really feels about the rape crisis in India?

That last paragraph reminds me of a phrase we boys used to use back in my 1980s middle-school days, "risking your ass." Usually used to describe a friend about to take a steep fall while on a bike or skateboard.

Hello, Amy. I posted this yesterday in your links entry -- Sillyman Rad (as Crid calls him) might have had a response to it, but no one else did. It seems an Oklahoman Tea Party Candidate, Scott Esk, believes that we should go ahead and stone the gays, as he posted on Facebook.
I find it laughably ironic, that a member of the Tea Party, who are terrified of sharia law being imposed in the United States, are also the ones most willing to impose Levitical law.
Do they think there's that much difference?

I'm not sure people know this but in Arab culture homosexual sex is quite common and prevalent. I've heard of situations where pre-teen boys are passed around for men to have their pleasure with.
It can be quite violent but usually it's two unmarried men having sex because the sexes are so segrageted.
You'll still get killed for it if you're viewed as the "woman". They don't do it because they are gay, but rather due to how they view the opposite gender as subhuman.
I've heard it's common in many ultra ultra Orthodox Jewish communities too.

Do you ever get the impression that these guys are just jerking our chains? That they say things like that solely becuase they know it will get their names in Western papers?
