Retired general and former Democratic presidential candidate Wesley Clark on Friday called for World War II-style internment camps to be revived for disloyal Americans:
I think I'll let Amy try this, but Oregon State says they've found a form of seaweed that tastes like bacon when cooked and is better for you than kale.
Yeah, I got nothing.

An organization called the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators is holding their annual conference in New Orleans. Sadly, their opening parade was crashed by protesters demanding free education for all.
Two questions (in no particular order):
- Why would the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators hold a parade? Do they play instruments too?
- The laudability of "free college for all" is supposed to be self-evident, I guess, but did the protesters really think through what they were demanding?

Here's a Slate piece looking into GMOs, and finds that the case against them is rather fraudulent.
Old RPM Daddy, it's Nawlins, they'll throw a parade for any reason.

Comedian Hannibal Buress talking about the bachelor party parade he planned in New Orleans. Funny stuff!
JFP: So New Orleans government can't evacuate the city when it is about to be drowned by a hurricane (largely because the money for dikes was diverted), and can't stop its cops from looting during an emergency, but it's _good_ at arranging parades.
My theory is that every government that might ultimately have to answer to the people will be competent at one thing, and that shows the top priority of the residents. In Michigan, it's the DMV on the state level - but in Detroit, graft and playing the race card seem to be the only specialties. In New Orleans, it's parades.
Washington DC - forget about it, some obscure congressional committee has more power than the local voters, and no reason at all to get anything right but the graft.
