A parable on white privilege:

Years ago, I worked briefly for a man who seemed to be a classic one-percenter. He was employed in a prestigious law firm and had been to the best schools: Princeton, Oxford, and Harvard, I believe, and in that order.

One day, I asked him about his earlier life. And my eyes widened as he talked. He was from West Virginia. His family didn’t have running water, as I remember. He himself didn’t have proper shoes until he was 14. He didn’t have any books, either. But a prominent man in town — I think it was a banker — let him use his private library. And that helped this kid, Michael, a lot.

Later, when the world looked at him, I’m sure they saw nothing but “white privilege.” But they knew nothing. Absolutely nothing.

This is less about "white privilege" and more about being part of the elites.

Tho it doesn't hurt that most of the allegations have been aimed at white guys...or "laws are for little people".

Austin, Texas, thought it was going to become rich off its recycling program. Instead, it spent more than $3 for every $2 it brought in. Demand for garbage is low, which is why people throw it away.

So what is Austin's solution to lagging prices? Increase supply. Apparently despite being home to one of the best universities in the land, no one at Auston City Hall ever cracked an economics book.

This is the case with most recycling programs. Or, if they're smart, they're sorting out the things that make money, and quietly placing the rest into the landfill.

My nephew made Comedy Central. Why, exactly, is the entire world so obsessed with Texas, and our little town in it, in particular? We're not the first state to have open carry. We're almost the last.

Yeah, Texas is number 45 of the 50 states to permit open carry.

Florida will likely follow because idiot police, sheriffs and prosecutors decided to ignore the legislature's intent that accidental/incidental reveal of a concealed firearm was not a crime into "brandishing" arrests and subsequent charges.
