University of Missouri quickly loses 1,500 students and $32 million of receipts after capitulating to Obama-administration-driven, Black-Lives-Matter race-baiting.
As one commenter points out, this enrollment drop happened as the school was heading into the spring semester, when new enrollments are lower -- so the true SHTF in the fall, when the new year starts.
$20 sez (a) decamping students are white, (b) Mizzou's aptitude test scores, applicant GPA average, and general academic standing will tumble as capable students choose to spend their tuition dime and get a degree from some place other than an identity-politics shlithole.

This story is days old, but I didn't see anyone else post a link about it, and Amy didn't cover it. (Shame on you, Amy.)
It seems that Trump supporters are given to violent outbursts and are very proud of that fact.
A protester at a Trump rally was violently assaulted by an old man, who was quite proud of what he did. The sheriff's deputies who escorted the protester out completely ignored the assault, and it was only through public outcry that this sick thug was finally charged.
Trump, who is quite happy to encourage violence against protesters at his rallies, suggested he man pay the assailant's legal fees.

From the fortune database, if you think the government is there to actually help you:
Q: How many bureaucrats does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A: Two. One to assure everyone that everything possible is being done while the other screws the bulb into the water faucet.
On the bright side (SWIDT?) you can't get lead poisoning from that tap...

Instapudit shares some insight on GaTech:
When the Insta-Daughter was a freshman at Georgia Tech, I wrote Peterson personally because armed gangs were staging “dorm invasions,” breaking into dorms and robbing students at gunpoint. I was concerned about her safety, but I didn’t even get a reply. That makes me wonder if one reason why the Tech administration is targeting its own students is its inability to deal with the actual, serious crime on and around its campus. I also felt that they really lied to us about the campus security situation when we were looking at the place, and would advise future applicants — and parents of applicants — to take whatever they say with a grain of salt.
Having been in the area near GaTech before, it isn't the best neighborhood. And having a relatively wealthy target to hit must make those students quite tempting for thieves.

Fascinating unpublished (and very readable) Andrew Gelman paper about what Axelrod got wrong about cooperation between opposing sides in the trenches in World War I:
In case you can't watch that, the President says he won't comment directly on the Apple legal fights, but then launches into the standard politician talking point of "yes, we want strong encryption, but bad people will use it so we need to figure out some way to break in."
If you watch that, the President is basically doing the same thing as all the Presidential candidates, stating that there's some sort of equivalency on both sides of the debate and that we need to find some sort of "balanced" solution short of strong encryption that will somehow let in law enforcement in some cases.
This is wrong. This is ignorant.
To his at least marginal credit, the President (unlike basically all of the Presidential candidates) did seem to acknowledge the arguments of the crypto community, but then tells them all that they're wrong. In some ways, this may be slightly better than those who don't even understand the actual issues at all, but it's still problematic.
Remember, you should punch back twice as hard (emphasis mine):
Max Stern, legal counsel for Montague, said in a statement that Montague was expelled from Yale on February 10 after a panel of the Yale University-Wide Committee found that he had nonconsensual sex in October 2014 with a female student who is currently a junior at Yale. Montague was expelled during the second semester of his senior year.

And in the "K-12 school administrators are so fucking dumb" category:
Administrators have ordered the removal of swastikas from a high school production of The Producers, the famous Mel Brooks film that makes fun of Nazism.
The New York school district that oversees Tappan Zee High School considers the inclusion of a swastika to be offensive and, possibly, a hate crime—regardless of the context.
Another unintended consequence of the exodus of the Jewish community from Belgium and France is the loss of its chocolatiers.
In a way, Israel is going to get lots of tasty treats while Europe will have to settle with Nestlé bars.

And this is more than a little disturbing:
As Microsoft auto-upgrades more PCs to Windows 10, some users are complaining that they weren’t adequately notified.
Reports of unwanted Windows 10 upgrades have been circulating for the past few days on Reddit and Twitter, after the last Patch Tuesday. These users say they never approved or initiated the upgrade, and were dragged away from their Windows 7 (or perhaps Windows 8) installs anyway.
This is all part of Microsoft’s plan, of course. Last October, the company announced that it would reclassify Windows 10 as a “Recommended” update from older versions starting in early 2016, at which point many more users would get the upgrade without explicit permission. That reclassification began on February 1, and auto-upgrades have been rolling out ever since. If complaints are reaching a higher volume now, perhaps it’s because the rollout is getting more aggressive.
"If complaints are reaching a higher volume now, perhaps it’s because the rollout is getting more aggressive."
I am at odds with the companies that make computer hardware and software - I am their enemy - because I do not want anything "better" than Windows 7 or OSX 10.6.8. They are remarkably capable and work on hardware I do not expect to break anytime soon; later versions of OS X are slower, period.
But programmers do not get paid to maintain the status quo. They are now sort of like a private version of Congress - insider deals keep them busy without really improving my lot... actually, they never seem to consider what I might want.
