On the 104th anniversary of the Titanic disaster, the creators of an in-development video game, Titanic Honor and Glory, released an intricately detailed real-time video recreation of the 1912 sinking. Spanning two hours and forty minutes, the now-viral video employs the best-known forensic details of the sinking to show a minute-by-minute breakdown of how the doomed liner’s passengers would have experienced the disaster as it unfolded.
Even if you don't have time for the video, the article is a fascinating read.
Damn. This year has been extremely brutal for entertainers in terms of mortality. Started early and kept up the pace. Maybe the pace is picking up a bit?
And please don't bother noting that the perv did not identify as anything beyond 'straight guy chasing little girl'. That might ruin the narrative.

Olympic didn't have her watertight compartments compromised in the way that Titanic did.
Walter Lord's A Night to remember and The Night Lives On are very readable histories of the sinking of RMS Titanic. Lord interviewed survivors and captured their perspective.
He also describes the "unsinkable" narrative and what went wrong in a way that would to Tom Clancy proud. There's quite a bit about maritime rules and history in the books as well.
They're excellent starting points for a lifelong obsession about the Titanic.

The Ballard coffee table book published a few years later after the wreck location was good, too. I gave it to a niece and it never came back.
