More Solutions For Scumbags
Yesterday, it was slydial. Today, it's service that gives you a fake doctor's note to get out of work. From MSNBC via Reuters:

CANBERRA, Australia - Australian medical authorities are warning employees against using an online company that is planning to sell fake doctors' sick notes that would allow people to take more time off.

The notes, available from www.doctorsnotestore.com, cost about $38 each and aim to exploit Australians' fondness for "chucking a sickie," or taking days off while supposedly ill.

Most companies require workers who take a sick day off to back it up with a medical certificate.

"It is clearly inciting and abetting fraud," said Wayne Herdy, a doctor and lawyer from the Australian Medical Association in Queensland state.

...The website says the company also provides notes for Europeans, and for gym-goers to cancel contracts due to illness or pregnancy. The site offers Internet links for medical notes in Canada and the United States as well.

While the products look "extremely authentic," the company said the notes are meant to be used as novelty items and not for any illegal purpose.

Right.

That said, you can't call in sick even once without a doctor's note? Man, that's ridiculous. I hope they get away with it.

You just can't mandate that human beings will never, ever be sick. And it's frankly cruel to make them haul ass to sit in a doctor's office when a day of bed rest will do them more good.

Geeze, and I'm complaining because my employer's threatening to make me do that if I call in more than once every 3 months (when we accrue a day a month)?

Hmmm, there a US version of this?

We get 5 sick days/year. If we're out more than 3 days in a row, we need a dr.'s note to come back to work. Every once in a while, I'll call in sick to take a mental health day. And one time, at a lousy job I had, I called in well. I called and told my boss, "you know, I've been sick ever since I started working for you, but today I'm well, so I won't be in anymore." o_O

I got it out of my boss (and this "coincidentally" after I complained about a coworker's rudeness) that it was his doing entirely (he tried to say lay it on higher-ups). Today he tried to get me to send a personal fax. It was I don't think so. I thought he has a hell of a nerve. Pulls this shit trying to prevent me using my sick leave then asks me to fax something personal when technically, since we're State employees, we are not supposed to use it for anything personal. Usually I wouldn't be an asshole about it but since he was about the other, guess what? He got as good as he gave.

Christ, I need to retire. I've been a secretary too goddamn long. 4 and a half years to go... But who's counting? :)
