An Introvert's Guide To Social Networking
Gregg is very charming to librarians and people he knows and likes, but quotes Ving Rhames from the set of "Out Of Sight" ("I don't want to talk to anybody I don't already know").
This morning on the phone, he announced that he's starting a nihilistic social network called "Quitter." Posts are zero characters and you're asked not to join.
Count me in.

I'm a total introvert in person, a classic wallflower - I've even been diagnosed with "social anxiety." I'll sit at a party or in a bar and never interact with anyone, unless I already know them or have a specific reason to talk to them (like to the bartender to order). And even then they usually have to interact with me first.
It's much easier to speak up online, and I know there are a lot of people who who find that to be true. It's not the anonymity (I use my real name), it's the lack of face-to-face.

I join in the not joining. Count me in on the counting me out.

I'd sign up but that would require posting more than 0 characters.
What if we balance it out with negative characters. Like the 'argument' guy in the Monty Python sketch.

"Quitter" - great name!
And Michael - it may be "much easier to speak up online" but on balance the exchanges can be superficial and disjointed.
The lack of "face to face" is OK for intellectual exchanges, but misses a lot of human signalling and emotion.
And the reliance on text can be seen as simply skewing socialization in favor of the verbally skilled.

I'll not join as well.

And what is wrong with that?
I'm not in on this one.

So then you'd not send "queets" in the old tradition of "if the phone doesn't ring, it's me?"

Count me in on the counting me out!
